'So, tell me why I should be taxed to pay somebody else's bill for them?'
Typical wing nut question. When someone asks this question, tell them that they are already paying for someone else's medical bill under their private insurance plan. Your health insurance company takes your monthly premium to pay for someone else's care when they get injured or sick. That's what private insurance is, genius. Duh.

5. Terms like 'insurance pool' is too abstract

you have to dumb it down in terms that their child like minds might be able to grasp.

Repugs see things strictly in black and white.

2. "So did you go to public schools?"
That's what I'd ask them.

If they answer in the affirmative, you'd then have to lament that your tax dollars were obviously wasted on the education the speaker failed to get....................

13. Excellent point since only corporations and the extremely wealthy benefit from war.
Then again, the willfully ignorant were scrambling to buy the NeoCon's exclusive line of B.S. 'cause brown people are evil and they was "Keepin' 'Murka Safe from Terra". Throw an issue like universal health care at them, and all they see is poor people benefiting off their (personal) dime.

The disconnect never fails to amaze.

16. Because one day you or somebody you love will (or will have been) recipients of this largess
Or, ask this question:

Does everybody in your extended family have health insurance? Aunts? Uncles? Nephews? Nieces? Cousins? You want them to be forced into bankruptcy one day and lose their home because you're too fucking cheap to give a tenth of a penny to help them???

17. Why should I be taxed to pay for a fire department, police department,
or any other tax funded public service that I might never actually use?

To help promote the common welfare, that's why.

19. Republicans never like to pay a tax unless it somehow directly benefits them.
Also, only a fool would believe that anyone who pays for insurance is not already footing the cost of the uninsured showing up at the hospital at ER prices.

24. you'd think health care infrastructure would benefit them
You read the op eds and these people would rather die than have government run options (well said bravely while they are healthy, I don't see too many sick Republicans talking it up)

but since Democrats are so terrible at framing things, the other side gladly does it for them.

26. It's built into our property taxes, also, as we pay for the county
hospital district, etc. We're paying for in higher costs of healthcare as sick uninsured people end up in emergency departments.
