The fight for the public option is a fight for democracy.
The public option determines if we are a democratic society or an Oligarchy ruled by the few as a totalitarian state.

Can 1% with money stop what 70% think is best, and what is shown best all over the world.

I do know many in the top %1 are good people, but some of them are trying to use money pressure to stop what the people need and want.

In this example if the public option can not be passed, then the United States is not a democracy.

Some might say this is hyperbole, but make an argument against it. Defend how money controlled by 1% would be allowed to decide, instead of the needs and thoughts of most of the people making a decision on what they should be able to have as options.

Also I have seen where people say the 1% control most of the income in the country 35-50%. If you actually take out expenses for food, health, and shelter from that comparison, they would be being given by our economic system far more then 50% of the spendable income in the USA. And in every case, in every country where that happens it leads to chaos.

1. I agree. We worked hard, & WE WON, for Pete's sake. Elections are supposed to have consequences. BUT

.....right out of the gate we are told we need to "compromise" and lose single payer. Now we may be about to "compromise" away a public option that will at least force private insurance companies to clean up their act a little.

WHY THE HELL ARE WE -- THE WINNERS -- ALWAYS THE ONES WHO HAVE TO COMPROMISE??

We have a relatively tiny group of screamers, whipped into a frenzy by the cash-fed likes of Glenn Beck, Rush, et al, suddenly getting all the media attention they need to look like everyone in the USA suddenly agrees with them.

They are using this tactic to basically overturn the will of the majority of Americans as expressed last November.

I am beginning to think this really is democracy's last stand, because if THIS stands, elections are meaningless.

2. We did compromise, to a strong public option, that is the middle ground
This is the moment, that is why so many people are fighting the battle.

But don't let what we know as propaganda lead you to despair, hope despair cycles are made to try and wear out a person, make them numb. Clean yourself up nice and tidy, and just push on if you believe what you believe is right. We are not attached to claims or even outcomes, we are what we believe should be, and what we try to accomplish, not what is said about it, nor even the outcome, we are the attempt, on that we are seen for what we are, as are those with different views, and in that seeing many others also see.
