The "Game" is: Health Care Reform Is Really Health INSURANCE Reform! BrainWashing 101!
Please pay attention to the use of ONE little word.... INSURANCE! Make US believe that Health INSURANCE Reform is Really... Health CARE Reform....

Obama uses it in his speeches... and it's used in commercials by never before heard of "organizations" such as American Health Insurance Plans.

There are several commercials, but two have essentially the same happy message voiced one way or the other. They appear on both MSNBC and CNN during prime time. I have not been able to catch them and tape them but the message is a "happy" one.

In the business of selling US... a pig in a poke.

The most blatant one is sponsored by the American Health Insurance Plan Association and it goes something like this...

(PAY ATTENTION to the commercials... as they are far more important than the show itself!)

Sort of a white suburban background happy little kids running around with the narrator saying... "When ALL Americans have Health INSURANCE... then no longer will there be people who are declined health insurance due to PRE EXISTING CONDITIONS!

Soooo, you have Obama going around to town halls sounding strong and knowledgeable and making statements about making sure that people have access to affordable Health INSURANCE!

Ever hear one word on Single Payer Health Care...ANYWHERE except Air America? What it is and what it would mean except to allude to the fact that it's a LEFTY idea that has been cast aside?

Folks we are going to get basically whatever Baucus and Conrad concoct in deference to the INSURANCE industry! Big Pharma has already had their say through Tauzin!

We don't want INSURANCE! WE Don't want A MF'n CO-OP! We want the most cost effective and comprehensive plan that there is and that plan is a Single Payer type Plan... Be it HR 676 or something like John Russell has espoused http://www.johnrussellforcongress.com/page.asp?PageId=35 Otherwise we should just forget it and let these ignorant morons live w/o or w/ their shitty private "rationcare" from the INSURANCE companies and let the pressure build! Nothing is better than a PIECE OF CRAP!

7. Who is the bigger villian, the Health Insurance companies or Health Care Companies?
Even if we were to institute Single Payer, that would be "Health Insurance Reform" because the insurance companies would be reformed right out of existence.

It's the *insurance companies* who deny payment, drop sick people, refuse to accept poor people, pre-existing conditions, etc, etc.

Granted, for-profit health *providers* (hospitals/doctors/clinics etc) it can be argued are immoral as well (as they're profiting off of the sickness of others) but if we have to have degrees of guilt here I say the insurance companies are orders of magnitude worse than the providers.

If we were to do literal "health care reform" then government would take over/ultra-regulate health *care* providers and all doctors would be (at least de facto) federal employees. (in which case, again, private insurance would necessarily be dismantled).

It's a question of framing. The RW always says we are proposing a "Gov't TAKEOVER of health care". Well that's a lie. A better phrase is "health *insurance* reform" since no one is actually proposing taking over the health CARE industry.

The RW loves to conflate health INSURANCE with health CARE.. your OP supports that framing..don't fall for it
sorry for the ramble.
