Run by "experienced health insurance executives" like "Blue Cross/Blue Shield"?

Lovely.

These are the cream of the crop criminals stealing us blind now.
Look at the bright side BS/BS (Bull shit/Blue Shield) isn't as bad as United Health Care is. Something to look forward to.

3. BCBS doubled my premium after I had a hospital stay on an individual plan
I was self employed and BCBS paid for the hospital stay and then doubled my premium. I had to take a part time (30 hours) job with a major corp to get health insurance. Now, that corp that I worked for doesn't insure their retail employees, just the execs.

5. 20 years ago, BCBS
approved two procedures to correct a birth defect (bone malformation) - the first corrected the bone malformation and the second would have improved the external appearance - a reconstructive surgery. The doctors planned on completing both procedures during the same surgery, but decided that, after almost 8 hours on the table and suffering a collapsed lung, that they needed to wait to undertake the second.

Several months later, when I had healed sufficiently to finish the job, BCBS informed me that they would no longer cover the second procedure - because the defect (the bone issue) no longer existed, the reconstructive portion was deemed 'cosmetic'.

I ended up paying for it (and paying and paying . . .) myself.

Co-ops are not 'change I can believe in' - they are an absolute sell-out. I sincerely hope that the rosy-colored glasses crew here on DU are right and it will indeed be "all that is for the best, in the best of all possible worlds". Would that I could embrace such a Leibnizian view of life.
