The the Dems are backing down from the deathers? What else will they back down on?
Heard this on both Maddow and Olberman tonight, this is what I found online:

"But growing complaints over the provision are leading key lawmakers to conclude that the health overhaul should leave out any end-of-life counseling provisions. A group in the Senate Finance Committee that is attempting to craft Congress's only bipartisan health bill has decided to exclude such a measure, Senate aides said this week."

So the deathers and right wing loonies can now score one, they've killed end of life counseling and the Dems once again proved their spinelessness. What's next, the public option?

You don't deal with these people by trying to placate them, giving in on something like this is only a sign of weakness in their eyes and encourages them to new heights of lunacy which leads to a vicious spiral and we wind up with healthcare reform in name only. Tell these red faced, spittle spewing ignorant asses to shove it, and use that majority in Congress, and that President in the White House to implement real change (as was promised). Instead, the Dems caved, and they will cave again and again.

Some change there:eyes:

1. Honey, it was a Republican inclusion in the first place.
Let's strip the bill of every Republican input.

5. Frankly I don't care where it came from
It was a good idea, a great common sense bipartisan idea, and now, due to the irrational fear felt by a minority of people, we're going to toss a provision that would have made a world of difference to millions of people.

Besides, it's the principal of the thing, stand up to these thugs instead of cowering. The Dems need to get a spine, fast. Otherwise, like I said earlier, the health care reform bill will be stripped of everything worthwhile.

2. It probably wasn't really needed anyway.

The same discussions could be had with one's physician during a regular doctor's visit...If a person is ill enough to need the discussion, she/he would probably be going to the doctor on a regular basis anyway. I do hate to see us cave on anything, though.

The final bill hasn't been written anyway. There'll be more compromises before it's a done deal.

3. Ahhh - the usual argument
if Dems do it, it must be for a good reason - not just caving in on a good idea.

4. Backing down from the deathers
I am an Independent who voted for President Obama because he
made me feel as if change was in the air. I was so tired of
the previous administration doing what the hell they wanted,
no matter what the people thought. Hearing President Obama
speak made me think that America was going to get back on
tract. I agreed with him on health care, transparency,
listening to the people etc. So far he has caved in on no
compromise with big corporations (deal made with drug
companies), Single Pay Healthcare, and I don't see any
transparency. Reminds me of Chaney and the secret energy
meetings. The President is caving in to everyone. I never
heard of the Blue Dogs until recently. Where were they when
the previous administration was killing us with debt? Where
were they when Bush got all those tax incentives passed? They
weren't worry then. Why now? The President gave everyone
hope that something was going to change. So far it is
business as usual. Screw the middle man. I hope democrats
develop a backbone over the vacation and come back and do what
they were elected to do, THE PEOPLE'S WORK.
