I DU because I am a progressive who enjoys discussing the issues that we have had to live with and do have to live with.

It also keeps me sane, as the media seems to slant and twist everything to the benefit of the conservative minority who seems to be only nominally out of power in their eyes.:wtf: What is it with that anyway? I have never seen anything like it. Generally when a president leaves office, especially under a cloud as Bush did, the reporters turn to the president in power. Especially when Bush was elected by fraud in one or both of his elections, and Obama was given a fairly good mandate?

That is straying off the subject, but that is one of the reasons I come to DU. There are other people here who get my frustration, and who can help me see the humor a lot of this crap. DU officially keeps my head from exploding.:argh:

42. I used to think the exchange of data/views was far more important than I do now

... well, online anyway, in the sense of interacting. However, people tend to identify things prior to actually seeing them, so ... I prefer face to face, real time for debates of any sort. Much more satisfying. Be it my wife, daughter, friends or co-workers. It's an entirely different thing than what occurs online. A person can say so much w/o actually speaking, and unless you develop a sense of recognizing/appreciating that through one's written words alone, online interaction is very limited and tends to fuel underlying pressure points for many.

The act of writing out one's views is a productive way of helping to sort through and questions one's perspective, beliefs, etc. So it's helpful to have a forum geared specifically toward that broad subject matter. But, again, given the limitations of the medium it tends to create many miscommunications, while the anonymity of the medium is utilized by those who use it to address others in a belligerent, confrontational way they likely do not in real life.

Basically though, my customer service job keeps me online all day, and there's plenty of down time. So I observe, opine and crack wise here.
