We spent 8 years of Bush holding staged town hall meetings with screened audiences, planted questions, and bouncers to eject anyone who might commit the sin of looking liberal. Protesters were rounded up like cattle and confined in cages far from the event. They had to sneak the shrub in the back way so he wouldn't accidentally see a sign with something negative on it. Fairy-tale land might go "poof", you know.

FOX blasted negative coverage of the rioters, out of control liberals, and anti-American protesters who DARED to challenge the president! How SHOCKING that these heathen scum would be so UNPATRIOTIC as to challenge the president! How shocking that the coverage on FOX always managed to zoom in on an angry black man!

But wait! We have our democracy back! Obama has retired the "protest zone" concentration camps. Democratic politicians aren't screening audiences or hiring thugs as bouncers. The meetings are being taken over by loud stupid FOX sheep. Okay, perhaps that's democracy, but there are expectations of civility.

How SHOCKING that these heathen scum would be so - wait, what was that Bill? What did you say Glenn? They're PATRIOTIC for doing this? I thought they were - oh I GET IT! These heathen scum are all WHITE REPUBLICANS! These heathen scum are loyal FOX viewers. Ah, yes, I see the connection. Thanks for straightening that out assholes.

The survival of FOX Opinion Channel depends on exactly one unchanging truth: you can't fix stupid.

So what should we do about this Astroshit? The Democrats could follow the Bush approach TO THE LETTER and it would just fuel the "communist, socialist, Nazi" rhetoric. I think having the local police forces politely remove impolite morons who disrupt a meeting might do the trick. I'm sure FOX will find a way to turn that into a liberal conspiracy, but at least it won't be taken seriously at the local level. Perhaps we could use the Army! Cheney wanted to use the Army to break up protests in NYC. At least there is a precedent!

So again, what do we do about this Astroshit? The Republicans can't survive without lies, deception, and manipulation of the ignorant. This leaves the Democrats in a tough position - even if they adopt the same tactics, they wouldn't be taken seriously. If they do nothing, they are accepting the beatings.

2. It's over

Liberals/Progressives have no voice or leadership. I really am despondent about the world my great-nephew (who will be born next Tuesday) will be faced with (along with his precious older brother and sister).

I actually suffer guilt sometimes for bringing them into this.

Three girls, 14, 16, 18, and all 2nd degree black belts.

We debated long and hard about bringing children into the world (Reagan/H.W. Bush years). We finally decided that it was certain that the assholes would be breeding like rabbits on Viagra and we had an obligation to defend our country with our own offspring. They've become fine young ladies and I trust they will serve the nation well in that capacity.

Was it fair to them to place such a burden upon them? That's a hard call. I'm just glad we did. They're wonderful.

That's all they DO! A company can be fined for false advertising for minor misrepresentations. FOX advertises "FAIR AND BALANCED" all the time and gets away with it when it is demonstrably false! WTF?
