Attention all you 'Healthcare Haters' out there - I have a request for you all....
Edited on Wed Aug-12-09 01:47 PM by LynneSin
If you hate socialized healthcare and government interference then I have a small request to ask of each of you.

Those of you so opposed to the government meddling in healthcare should send in a request to have all of the following government programs discontinued for you and your family. God forbid we have been making you suffer all these years making you be a part of these government programs and I think we should give you your wish.

So if you hate what Obama is doing then perhaps we can help by making sure that you no longer receive anything from the following programs:

* Medicare
* Medicaid
* Social Security
* Any Prescription Drug Programs from the Gov't
* Disability
* Unemployment Benefits
* Food Stamps

We'll see to it that you no longer have to suffer thru the government providing you for these benefits since clearly they are programs that greatly upset you since, well, they types of 'socialists' programs in your eyes. Since you know what is best for you, you can figure out how to keep your family healthy & fed along with assuring they have a home to live.

Thank you very much!

5. That's okay.
Sometimes the choir needs someone who can state it clearly. Because of the things the choir hears in a statement like this, we can present the ideas to our neighbors and even write LTTEs.

I'll take the sermon.

4. Brilliant, and let's keep the list going.
Edited on Wed Aug-12-09 01:55 PM by CBHagman
Next time somebody, anybody -- co-workers, elected representatives, demonstrators, columnists, pundits, whatever -- tut-tuts about how bad the government is at doing everything, remind them that they are free to give up driving on the roads constructed with our tax dollars, and they can do without the veterans' hospitals, and state and national parks are a big no-no, so they'd better stay home, and any technological innovations developed through NASA or NIH, etc., are off-limits. You get the idea.

On edit: We need to keep talking to people outside DU. I did this morning, on this very issue, to a co-worker who wondered aloud about the government's supposed incompetence.

And please stay the hell off of the street, stop using the water, quit crapping in the toilet, and don't even think about calling the police or fire department should you require their services.

Go Galt and leave the rest of us the hell alone

15. Stephen Hawking has even weighed in on this!
Feast your eyes:

http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk/52108,news,stephen-hawking-defends-evil-nhs-british-scientist-healthcare-reforms-obama-ted-kennedy

Hawking has defended Britain's tax-funded National Health System after he was held up by a US financial newspaper as an example of why the NHS should not be used as a blueprint for the reforms. In a recent editorial, Investors Business Daily claimed: "People such as scientist Stephen Hawking wouldn't have a chance in the UK, where the National Health Service would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless."

The Cambridge professor, who is of course British despite speaking with an American-accented vocoder, told the Guardian: "I wouldn’t be here today if it were not for the NHS. I have received a large amount of high-quality treatment without which I would not have survived." Hawking was treated by an NHS hospital as recently as April, when he was admitted to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge for chest infections. Investors Business Weekly has since amended its article, removing any mention of the scientist.

The NHS has been the subject of several outlandish attacks by Republicans and anti-reform campaigners in their bid to defeat Obama's healthcare reforms. Republicans launched a slickly produced TV campaign this week branding the NHS 'evil' and 'Orwellian'.

11. Hate to burst your bubble
but most of them would gladly send in that request if govt gave them the option to "pay and receive" those services or "opt out and do without" those services.
That is why such things are not voluntary and all of us are required to participate.
Trust me, you do not want to open up that can of worms.

13. You're kidding me right?
I know these people, I was born and raised around the same type of people who are out there protesting and trust me - none of these people want off the gravy train. They are the biggest group of hypocrites out there. I say open that can wide open and let them suffer thru trying to find healthcare provider who will take them on without claiming 'pre-existing condition'. Let them find a way to feed their families while working low-paying jobs that provide absolutely no benefits to them.

You have to realize there is a major disconnect between what they are doing today with these protests and what they receive from the government. And for most of these folks that disconnect is created by the fact that there is a black man in the White House and god forbid he could do a better job than the white guy who was 'one of them' from the last 8 years.

14. I live among them now
and the vast majority of them would opt-out of those social programs if govt would no longer tax them for the programs. They are fine with finding their own healthcare provider NOW. They feed their families while working low-paying jobs NOW. What makes you think they would not rather have that tax money in their own pockets to help with those two things?
In order for those social programs to work, we ALL must pay and govt knows millions would opt-out if given a chance. That is why it is not voluntary.

You have to realize that it is less about a black President and more about govt leaving them alone.
