Barack Obama, June 23, 2007:

" I have made a solemn pledge that I will sign a universal health care bill into law by the end of my first term as president that will cover every American and cut the cost of a typical family's premium by up to $2,500 a year."

1. Yes, surprise, surprise! Obama seeks healthcare reform.
He didn't make any secret about it during his campaign. Perhaps these bullies simply were not paying attention or maybe they are just doing the bidding of their masters. No, not just their Republican and radio shill master, but their masters of fear and lies whom they faithfully and joyfully serve.

9. Correction, Obama is seeking health insurance reform.
Check out the front page from http://www.whitehouse.gov/">Whitehouse.gov.

2. Hmmm. I hadn't seen that quote.
I suppose that mandating the purchase of insurance will be said to count as "covering everyone".

Change that isn't at all what you really wanted.

3. And yet the entire conversation revolves, not around health care, but around health insurance.
A plan to provide affordable, accessible, universal health CARE, has been transmogrified into a pointless debate of how many billions of tax dollars we will pour into the insurance industry in the desperate hope that they will grant access to a system that is inadequate to the task.
:grr:

8. Yep, health CARE reform is now off the table, sadly.
Now just debating how many billions of dollars are given to the bloodsucking insurance industry, as you said. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

5. What, you mean that election thing?
It's almost like you're saying elections have consequences. Whoa--what a terrifying thought!

6. Yes we did,
And a "Public Option like Medicare" that anyone can choose was supported by a majority of Americans.

"Public Option like Medicare = Publicly owned, government administered alternative to Private For Profit Insurance available to all Americans.

Unfortunately, THAT has morphed into "Health Insurance Reform".

7. No, we decided who would be president
I'm all for a real healthcare change, I want single-payer. I thought Obama would get us closer. However, I didn't vote on health care, it was NOT on the ballot. We don't vote on issues, only politicians (at least nationally).

I don't agree 100% with Obama on everything, but I didn't have an option of giving him 85% of my vote, and saving the rest for someone else.
