Pick a position or topic, any topic. It boils down to one thing - Rethugs do not give a flying fuck about the poor or lower middle class. They are only interested in anything that helps increase their wealth, and that of their big-money allies.

Everything else is secondary to them.

We cannot expect to reason or rationalize with them. Their idea of compromise and bipartisanship is having us give up concessions. When was the last time you saw a rethug propose something that would adversely impact their accumulation of wealth?

You're right, it's all about the $. The religious aspect of the right wing is about getting numbers in the voting booth, those likley to oppose Democrats on abortion, civil rights, etc. They can't openly run on their real platform: help the rich; repeat.
