CNN Is Winding Down on Talk Radio Hosts As Guests
Edited on Wed Aug-12-09 10:17 AM by NashVegas
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/cnn/no_more_talk_radio_hosts_on_cnn_124031.asp

TVNewser has learned, and a CNN spokesperson confirms, that in his morning editorial meeting today, CNN/U.S. president Jon Klein asked his show producers to avoid booking talk radio hosts. "Complex issues require world class reporting," Klein is quoted as saying, adding that talk radio hosts too often add to the noise, and that what they say is "all too predictable."

This is only directed towards guests. Hosts who have radio gigs on the side are not affected.

3. "Complex issues require world class reporting,"
And this guy thinks it's only the talk radio hosts that fail to provide it? Not the newsreaders that work for the station?

4. Good idea
I think CNN has a good idea. I notice MSNBC doesn't use radio hosts to much but they do use Huffington Post people a lot

8. If...
This is serious and not just a load of PR crap - it could be very good news. I get the feeling CNN is trying to find its voice as a real news organization. If they stop depending on paid lackeys to fill their airtime and start doing some real reporting it would be good for America.

11. Uh huh, sure
And that pledge will hold right up until the moment some lazy producer is looking at 10 minutes of dead air, and his Rolodex beckons. A Rolodex crammed full of phone numbers for Gordon Liddy, Oliver North, Michael Savage, and of course Rush Limbaugh. But they'll "avoid" booking those fellows. Until the next hole opens up in the 24 hour news cycle, and they need a voice to fill some time. Then they'll really avoid those guys. Really and truly.
