What are they really afraid of?
It seems like the entire Republican Party needs to be in therapy. They are scared to death. But why?

Are they afraid of karma? That they may be punished for their actions and inactions of the last 8 years? That they sat on their sorry asses and never made a sound as their Party and their leaders, Bush and Cheney, destroyed this nation?

And now they worry about Obama making an "enemies list" when someone sends a email to the White House calling them on their paranoia and their fabrications. They now worry that we are going too far in debt, when just 8 years ago, we had a balanced budget and were running a surplus. They never had a problem when their Party doubled the national debt.

They yelled at Senator McCaskill's townhall yesterday that they did not "trust" her. They were ready to put a rope around Arlen Specter's neck. One of the protesters at his townhall was on TV this morning and said he did not trust Obama or Pelosi or Hoyer or Barney Frank. We are to assume he trusted Bush and Cheney and everyone in the Republican Party?

Are they afraid of the truth? That the American people will hold them accountable and that their propaganda will no longer be effective. Their lies are being exposed even as we speak.

It is becoming more and more obvious that they are not really concerned about healthcare that much. Their questions at the townhalls are usually about another subject entirely, most likely something they have heard on talk radio? They fear being in the minority. They fear they will have to answer for their "sins". More than anything, they fear irrelevance.

2. Some good points
one theme that I have heard is "I want my country back" in some variation or other

back to what? segregation? some fantasy world where everyone was hard-working, white, Christian, Republican and hated Commies?
there are now roughly 300 million Americans....we can't have 300 million versions of 'my country'....

and some of this is just assholes being assholes

4. "I want my country back" == "I want a white guy doofus back in charge"....
...I'm white and I have been called a doofus at times and don't want to be in charge....

I think they're scared of gov't lying to them AGAIN, they've just realized that Bush lied and are expecting Obama to lie as well. From my POV, he may have had to stretch the truth (closing GITMO, "I'm for single payer", "US out of Iraq"...) to win, but he's only been in the job 6 mos, and is doing well overall, so I'm content to see how the rest of his term(s) pan out.

They're also afraid of change, expecting to get the shaft AGAIN.

3. They fear Demographics.
In one generation, 'white' people will not be the majority race in this country, and there is nothing they can do do stop that fact from happening.

5. their BIGGEST fear is that Obama will be proven right
and the archaic, ineffectual ways of doing things CAN be successfully changed for the better...

After they hoped Obama would fail trying to clean up the shit sandwiches Bush left behind, he might just right the ship and bring in a new age for America...Remember, the better Obama does, the worse Bush looks as a result -- and these are all clowns who bought into the bush lies, wanted to believe, and stayed bitterly loyal to the last day...

6. They lost their grip on power and seem themselves sinking further into the abyss.
They have no new ideas and will do anything to try and maintain the status quo.

7. Themselves
I just can't get through to you
Despite all the ways I try or any of the things I do
Maybe I'd be better off talkin to a wall
Cause you ain't making any sense at all

I'm walkin and I'm talkin
And I'm tryin and I'm lyin
But I just ain't getting through to you!

Am I just wastin, just wasting all my precious time?
Cause I ain't wastin a breath on you or any of your kind
If you had any brains you would open your mind
I guess you're just afraid of what you're gonna find

It's a malfunction...!
