Part of their constant sniveling before that about having to be 'Politically correct", was that the idiots from the extreme edges of the right couldn't be their subnormal drooling selves and tell racist/ misogynistic jokes or diatribes loudly and anyplace they wanted to, they had to make sure they were among their own kind........So they seemed to a degree, more civil and maybe even thinking about stuff like equal rights, human dignity and freedom for everyone.......
The massive influx of easily led middle class white folks into the Nascar Dad/Lee Greenwood/Hyper-patriot Rushbo/Billo/whomever REALLY bloomed during this period.....
So the pustule that is the fear of darker people bloomed unabated.
THen came 9/11 and bingo. It's alright to be racist.
In some ways the election of Barack Obama was backlash to that.
As we knew before the election, the guy with the really ter'ist sounding name who's daddy was a AFRICAN HAS to be terrifying to those subnormal critters who have learned nothing of thinking, but are the full embodiment of the perfect consumer:
They passively wait for their food to come down the trough and into their car, they consume identities from the logos on their clothing and movie characters and video games, and they will spend every day they have on this planet allowing television and radio 'personalities' tell them what they will believe, and as we have seen, what to DO.
They have finally realized that beneath the Lee Greenwood swagger and the Toby Keith tough guy stage presence that they are scared. They are scared that the dark people from the middle east are going to hurt them, they are scared that they will have to stand in line with everyone else, they are scared that the wallmart will close.
The white-dominated world they have bought into their entire lives is coming to a screeching halt at the very moment their personal comfort brought about by American dominance of the financial world is coming down around their ears (oddly enough, by the same corporations that are supplying the identities and 'lifestyle choices' thus far)....
They cannot see the corporate hand squeezing the life out of them. It has been the safe and nurturing hand all their lives, the teat to suckle when lonely or tired or hungry......
If they cannot blame the corporations for the demise in their lifestyle choices, jobs, and security, then it HAS to be someone else.
IT has to be 'the other'.
It has to be the brown people, the illegals, the ter'rists, the liberals, the NAZIS, the Socialists.
As personified by that sobbing infantile twit on the telly the other day, THey "want their country back"
They want to be able to ignore the world they really live in, again. They want the corporations to give them their clean white world where sending a few dollars to a charity would keep the fear and the loathing of the brown people at bay, keep the faces of the dead and dying black people in Africa buried behind the news about a new ipod, the new truuuuck or the newest water park down the road....
They want to preserve a world that is crashing down around them as the 60 year era of White America comes to a close.
The new world order they fear so much will be (IS NOW) fully owned and manipulated by the very corporations that wanted to buy the world a coke a few decades ago.
Instead of 'just do it' they are being told 'Just do THIS' and they are responding.
