Burris may run for IL Senate after all
Illinois Sen. Roland Burris announced last month that he would not run to retain his Senate seat next year, but in his first television interview since making that decision, Burris told ABC News he could change his mind.

ABC's Jonathan Karl chats with Sen. Roland Burris on the Capitol Hill subway."You never say never," Burris told ABC News in a "Subway Series" interview for the ABC News program "Top Line." The "Subway Series," which debuts on Monday, features interviews with senators and other political leaders on board the Capitol Hill subway.

"What I'm still hearing," Burris said, is "people from all over the country and they are saying, 'Don't give up that seat.'"

Nobody took a more unusual route to the Senate than Burris, who is only the sixth African American in U.S. history to serve in the Senate.

8. He should not run
Although I supported him when he took over for Obama. He's really been a good Liberal, but he should not run.

10. It's his right to run
Edited on Mon Aug-10-09 07:15 PM by Proud Liberal Dem
and it will be up to Democrats in Illinois as to whether or not to nominate him to run against............? Personally, it sounds like he has been tainted by the whole Blagoevich scandal and he may have actually engaged in some questionable activities about which he was not forthcoming and should probably step aside for the good of the party and a better shot at retaining that Senate seat, but it's still ultimately up to the Democratic primary voters for them to decide who will run for his seat. Anybody have any polling data about any potential match ups? Anybody else announced for the nomination?

13. Need one--& only one--Dem challenger to defeat him in the primary if he runs.
I suspect many of those encouraging Burris to run are Republicans.
