British security contractor facing death penalty in Iraq after 'shooting dead two colleagues in a vodka-fuelled squabble'

This is the first picture of the British security contractor facing the death penalty after being arrested by Iraqi police on suspicion of shooting dead two colleagues during a drunken row in Baghdad's Green Zone.

Danny Fitzsimmons is accused of gunning down fellow Briton Paul McGuigan and Australian Darren Hoare after a 'squabble' during a late-night vodka-drinking session.

He is also alleged to have wounded an Iraqi as he tried to flee the scene of the attack in Baghdad's International Zone in the early hours of this morning.

If charged, he could become the first Westerner to face an Iraqi trial on murder charges since an agreement giving foreign workers immunity was lifted.

Iraq's Interior Ministry spokesman Major General Abdul-Karim Khalaf said the row broke out after the men had been drinking.

He said: 'They got into an argument and he started shooting his colleagues.'

2. I'd love to see some Blackwater prosecutions in Iraq and in the US.
They've gotten away with this kind of thing and worse for the past several years. If you commit murder in Iraq, I guess it stands that you should also be prosecuted under their justice system.
