"Hello. This is Humana. This call is for (name inserted). We just need
you to verify that the coverage we have on file for you is correct." Now why would they need to know that? If we (company we work for) pays our premiums every month for a form we fill out yearly, why do they need to go over it again? I didn't answer the call, BTW. It was a recording.
Ours is online but every year they ask to make sure that their database contains the correct information. United Healthcare PPO and Caremark (prescriptions) in my case.
2. Humana calls me all the damn time too. It's never been to verify coverage,
but for stuff like a reminder that my prescription is due to be refilled, or to offer some new coverage. It's always a recording and I keep track of when my refills are due, so the stupid phone calls drive me nuts!
4. i know bob's work was asking for information about me for the insurance, i guess...
he called them and wanted to know why they needed proof that we were married.... i think that is what they were asking for. we've been married for four years.
9. Agreed. If you do need to contact Humana, choose a route that you know
will actually reach a legitimate Humana rep -- i.e., there should be a phone # on your insurance card, or the HR people at work should have a contact number. I do this even when I receive letters that appear legitimate.
