One reason Obama can't release his long form BC: the birthers won't stop there

The act of releasing the long-form birth certificate the Birther mob claims will "prove" his eligibility to be president wouldn't be that hard: he could call the Hawaiian Bureau of Vital Statistics, get them to burn him a copy off their microfiche, and call in the AP to photograph it. Problem solved, right? Wrong.

Already we've seen two other irrational demands for personal information: Orly Taitz wants his medical file from the hospital he was born in, and Joseph Farah wants his college financial records. If the president accedes to their demands for the birth certificate, the next thing you know, they'll be demanding Michelle's first grade disciplinary file, Sasha's dental records...they'll want his social security number posted on the internet because, after all, someone "born in Kenya" doesn't really have a SSN. And even if they get all these things, they won't believe any of them. They "know" he's a Kenyan, and nothing the president can do or say will change their minds.

They are ambiguous about what will satisfy their demands of 'proof' because they want to keep moving the goal posts. They are not interested in 'proof'. They are interested in disruption. They are disrupters who work outside of town hall meetings.

Facts, evidence, 'proof' will never satisfy them because what they really want is a white guy as president. Simple as that.

6. You are buying into birther propaganda

There isn't any "long form birth certificate".

States vary in terms of what records they archive.

Any piece of paper held by someone other than the official register of births for the jurisdiction has no legal value.

that there is no ultimate proof of anything if some refuse to have the proof be proof. Long form or not, Obama might be the only person still alive who was in the room in which he was born. And even if someone who was present as an eye witness is still around, how could they guarantee that a child born 48 years ago is the man we see before us. Face it, a birth certificate is only a piece of paper and hospital records are photocopies. No one has proof beyond ANY CONCEIVABLE (however unreasonable) doubt. That's the beauty of the nature of conspiracies. Nothing can be proved absolutely either way. The birther thing will never die.

iirc, Hawaii doesn't have a "long form." The President has released the only birth certificate that exists for him, and Hawaii has certified that it's genuine.

He has already released the short form, and it has been given the thumbs up by a Hawaiian official. The long form is protected by Hawaiian law. The long form was reviewed as well and it was also given a thumbs up.

My guess is that Obama wants to, but frankly his hands are tied.

The only way the long form can be released would be if the Hawaiian law was changed authorizing it. Which would be silly.

I suppose that Obama could request the Hawaiian legislature to pass a law a authorizing its release, but that would be a waste of time and money.
