Urban behive program in England promotes rooftoop and balcony hives for urban livers.
Edited on Sun Aug-09-09 11:27 PM by zonkers
Natural England, a conservation agency sponsored by the Government, is attempting to encourage urban livers to experiment with a new kind of furry winged pet: bees.

The conservation agency aims to reverse the dwindling bee population by encouraging those with rooftops and balconies to adopt bee hives because they can offer the bees’ easy access to flowers in gardens and parks that are located nearby. Also, the agency claims that honeybees will not bother the neighbours unless pestered making them a silent loft friendly pet.

1. As much as I want to see healthy bee populations,
those of us with severe allergies to the little darlings are not thrilled with this development . . .

I don't think anyone chooses to 'pester' a bee. Really. But people still get stung. When I'm in the country or the park or a garden, I expect bees. When I'm sitting outside having lunch in town, I really don't.

:(
