I'm about to sound like a concern troll....
but I've about decided there's not going to be any meaningful health care reform at all. First, single payer is off the table. Now, Durbin is willing to give up on a public option. What's the point?

Someone, talk me down.

30. And so it goes
...to Hell in a hand basket. But isn't it comforting to know that the Wall Street guys who caused the
economic meltdown are save in their jobs, secure from the public finding out the full details of how
badly we were ripped off. It's a sort of jobs program ... for failed executives.

4. My only hope is that there can be some incremental progress as time goes by.
If someone like Durbin gives up on a public option you have to know the fix is in by big insurance.

The conference committee could put it back in as the House version has it.

9. You forgot to add, that no one's talking about health care reform anymore
even Obama calls it Health Insurance Reform. And the "reform" seems to be that we'll be required to contribute to the insurance companies.

Apparently we voted for change CEOs can believe in.

17. Read what Durbin actually said.
It sounded more like a "tactical" move to me. Not very encouraging, but hardly a decisive abandoning of any hope for a public option. We won't really know until they hammer out one final bill from all the current proposals. I'll wait until then, but I'm nervous about it too.

22. There isn't going to be meaningful health care reform
Durbin taking the public option off the table signals to me that Obama is already a lame duck. Obama needs to get on the bully pulpit and slap those fuckers into line.

Also, where is Obama? These DoucheBaggers are telling lies all over, interrupting town halls, and dominating media coverage. Obama needs to get out there. Seems he forgot now that he is done campaigning for President, he needs to start campaigning for his ideas.

33. Our leaders start out to negotiate the terms of their surrender.
They set out to lose at the bargaining table by conceding their strongest position. It would be shocking if we hadn't seen it all before.

No point in a final up or down recommendation until we see what the final bill actually is.
