About MSM?
When Bush was installed in 2000, there were protests all over the country, but these protests were barely a footnote on the evening news. MSM did cover the thugs intimidating the recount offices, but not the protestors lining the installation route. The teabaggers and thugs disrupting town hall meetings are headlines every day. I think I'm correct in my observations.

Could it be that MSM sought to minimize the extent of the protests in 2000 by minimizing the coverage, but are focusing on the right wing protests about health care reform to make the viewers think that there is a great deal of protesting now? Teabag meeting attendance numbers in the few, and it seems like the same protestors (and I use the term loosely) show up at different meetings, but MSM yammers on about the birthers, deathers, Sotomayor, and the other protests as if they are the most relevant thing in the world.

If you just glanced at the news, you'd think that the protestors against health reform are ready to topple the government, when in reality, the polls, the recent elections and other measures show that a majority of American people want reform, voted for and support Obama, and aren't repugs.

I don't know how we got where we are, but it is hard to think that a minority of buttlickers are working to derail our country and getting so much air time all the time.

2. the dominant corporate media has been distorting reality for a long time
My SIL - a laborer - and his father are extremely anti-union based on how the DCM has portrayed them.
Who picks the candidates for president? I'll bet you think the parties do, but much of the party faithful are swayed immensely by how the media reports on candidates. Remember last year when the media focused on Obama and Hillary and basically reported little or nothing on Edwards or Kucinich? In the repugs McCain got the star treatment while Huckabee was treated like an orphan?

Ten teabaggers in Texas draws 24X7 coverage led by FUX and followed by all the others. A million people in the street in London or NYC against the war? NADA
Remember those Downing Street Memoes? Really, really big stuff. What media coverage did it get? Page 27 in the NYTimes?
Sybill Edmonds gave incredible testimony today - will anyone (beside Bradblog) report on it.

This is why net nuetralitry is one of the three most important issues facing us today. We are one internet czar away from being the old Soviet in terms of issue coverage.

3. I don't trust anything I see on the news -
I live in the DC area, and when Fuckface was crowned for the first time on January 20, 2001, I had to find out from friends in other cities that there had been demonstrations along the parade route, that the new "President" had not been allowed to stay out of his limousine for fear of attacks, and NONE OF THAT - NONE OF IT - was shown on the local stations.

I trust none of them........................
