2. Do you really believe anything will come out of this? The MSM is not covering it for some reason
(no surprise there)

and will Congress really investigate itself?

7. The treason of Marc Grossman....
from previous postings:

http://www.historycommons.org/context.jsp?item=asummer01grossmanbja#asummer01grossmanbja

An unnamed high-ranking State Department official tips off members of a nuclear smuggling ring about a CIA operation to penetrate it, according to FBI translator Sibel Edmonds. Edmonds will later leave the FBI, becoming a whistleblower, and will say she knows this based on telephone conversations she translated. The ring is headed by Pakistani nuclear scientist A. Q. Khan, and includes Pakistan’s ISI intelligence agency, as well as Turkish and Israeli representatives. The official is said to tell a member of the ring that a company the ring wants to do business with, Brewster Jennings & Associates, is a CIA front company. Brewster Jennings & Associates is a front for Valerie Plame Wilson, who will later be outed as a CIA officer in 2003, and possibly other operatives. A group of Turkish agents come to the US on the pretext of researching alternative energy sources and are introduced to Brewster Jennings through a lobby group, the American Turkish Council (ATC). The Turks apparently believe Brewster Jennings are energy consultants and plan to hire them. According to Edmonds, the State Department official finds out about this and contacts a foreign target under FBI surveillance, telling him, “ou need to stay away from Brewster Jennings because they are a cover for the government.” The FBI target then warns several people about Brewster Jennings, including a person at the ATC and an ISI agent, and Plame Wilson is moved to another operation.
Comments and Denial - The Sunday Times will comment: “If the ISI was made aware of the CIA front company, then this would almost certainly have damaged the investigation into the activities of Khan. Plame ‘s cover would also have been compromised, although Edmonds never heard her name mentioned on the intercepts.” The unnamed State Department official will deny the allegations, calling them “false and malicious.” Former CIA officer Philip Giraldi will comment: “It’s pretty clear Plame was targeting the Turks. If indeed that official was working with the Turks to violate US law on nuclear exports, it would have been in his interest to alert them to the fact that this woman’s company was affiliated to the CIA. I don’t know if that’s treason legally but many people would consider it to be.”
Official Said to be Marc Grossman - The high-ranking State Department official who is not named in the Sunday Times is said to be Marc Grossman by both Larisa Alexandrovna of Raw Story and Giraldi, writing in the American Conservative.

9. Re: the apparent treason of Marc Grossman
Edited on Sun Aug-09-09 05:01 AM by leveymg
(This mirrors what I posted over at Bradblog, a couple minutes ago)

There are several intertwined threads to the tapestry of apparent treason by Grossman and Feith, the outing of Brewster Jennings, and the bribery of Congress members by ATC. Let's try to separate them out.

First, this is just a snapshot of a much larger, darker picture of foreign espionage and influence peddling in Washington. Sibel has certain language skills, which explains why she can tell us what she heard on the FBI wire about some of the black ops carried out by the Turks, and those who Turkish intelligence was talking to and working with, such as Pakistani ISI, the Israelis, and the American neocons.

Second, let's not lose sight of the roles played by other partners in this network. There is a strand that extends from Feith and the OSP "cell" in Rumsfeld's Pentagon spy shop through Larry Franklin to Naor Gilon, Mossad Chief of Station, at the Israeli Embassy. The other end of that stretches to Marc Grossman and Richard Armitage in the State Department connected to Vice President Cheney, who orchestrated many things, including the outing of Valerie Plame and the destruction of operations run by the CIA Counter-Proliferation Division (CPD). That, in turn, links in with the WMD falsification conspiracies supporting the Iraqi invasion.

This is part of something much bigger and more sinister. The FBI and NSA apparently has a lot more on tape. More will come out, but this is just the first step toward learning the awful truth. We must demand all the whistleblowers be allowed to finally speak, and some more now come forward, so we can hear the rest.

12. Thanks for the summary

It's really difficult to remember all these people and how they all intertwine, and what lies beneath it all, is truly frightening.

13. I agree, there is much more below the surface...

and perhaps it begins with the Deep State of Turkey, otherwise known as the Turkish mafia, where it is difficult to know where the government of Turkey ends and the (ultra right-wing, pro-fascist) elements begin. A good summary of how this can be explained from the Sibel Edmonds case is provided here:

http://onlinejournal.com/artman/publish/article_1039.shtml

...

Furthermore, it appears from reading into some of Edmonds’ statements that the Turkish mafia was partnered with Osama Bin Laden’s al Qaeda network in the drug trade, meaning Turkey’s secular establishment was more connected to al Qaeda pre-9/11 than were the Islamists in Turkey. Which is quite ironic, to say the least.

If you think this story sounds too convoluted to be true, and you feel the instinct to dismiss Edmonds’ claims, think again. Every investigation into the whistleblower’s charges, from the Senate Judiciary Committee to the Department of Justice’s Inspector General Report, has found that Edmonds’ story is corroborated within the FBI, which means her translations, not those of Melek Can Dickerson, were the correct ones. This also means that the aforementioned Turkish organizations, and certain Turkish diplomats, were indeed under FBI investigation. And all this put together means that people like Dennis Hastert probably were -- and perhaps still are -- on the payroll of Turkish ‘deep state’ interests.

14. And why those involved HAD to keep Kerry out of WH - he'd have re-opened long closed books
that track the AQ Khan network to its funders and partners - Dubai and Saudi royals, Bush family, Jackson Stephens and every powerful person who enabled them to cover up throughout the 90s after Kerry's Dec 1992 BCCI report was close to exposing their ENTIRE agenda.
