Just saw a TV ad warning of Obama's *socialism takeover of health care*
On MSNBC during Rachel's program at approximately 9:48 pm ET, by a group called "The Better Government Association (BGA)". Truly a slimy piece of propaganda to confuse as many people as possible.

Went to the web site http://www.bettergovernmentassociation.com/ and saw that it now has a different name, The United States Citizens Association (USCA).

The United States Citizen Association
1655 W. Market Street | Suite 200
Akron, Ohio 44313

Who is behind this group? Does anyone know?

8. Thanks for this info. Herndon, VA seems very familiar as a headquarters for groups such as this.
Was Roger Stone's shadowy network operating out of Herndon, or am I mis-remembering.....hmmmmm.

20. No- Network Solutions is a name registrar based in Herndon, nothing more.
NS is a huge corporation that has nothing to do with running websites like this. I have used them to purchase domain names in the past.

Herndon is about 20-25 minutes from DC and 10 minutes from Tyson Corner- my guess is that the group would have roots in either of those places.

21. There's no corelation between NS location and anyone using them
They are the oldest registrar and used by people everywhere.

25. That was my first point.
The location is only a coincidence. Most if not all of the astroturf organizations are located in this general area.

11. Will try to watch it later.
Shouldn't Rachel say something about it? Write to her and ask her either to clarify or admonish?

12. This needs to go to her. Apparently this group is stealing the identity of a nonpartisan group
...and passing off particularly nasty lies about Obama's health care reform.

We're in a pitched battle with these corporate bastards. And they are well organized and extremely well funded.

3. those FUCKERS! it's what they do to confuse people. they got SUED by the real BGA for
stealing their name.

bet you didn't know that. it was 'hard' to find, but my google skills are improving a bit:

http://cbs2chicago.com/local/better.government.association.2.1114444.html

Aug 4, 2009 2:14 pm US/Central Better Government Association Sues Group With Name

Lawsuit: Ohio-Based Right Wing Group Has Taken BGA's Name

An independent, non-partisan political watchdog group formed in Chicago in 1923 does not want to be confused with a highly-partisan new group out of Akron, Ohio, also calling itself the Better Government Association.

The Akron-based group recently took out a full-page ad in USA Today claiming "Barack Obama ... and the Democrats did not inherit the bad economy; they caused it and made it worse ... They now want to bankrupt the nation with socialized medicine and socialism energy taxes."

The 86-year-old BGA has gotten calls and letters from people -- some angry -- who saw the ad, so the Chicago group is asking a federal court to prevent the Ohio group from any further activity which could cause such confusion.

The BGA filed a lawsuit in federal court in Chicago on Monday asking for a permanent injunction against the Ohio group.

5. if you read the article, they even stole the logo, BGA 'marks,' and other stuff, clearly
to fool people into thinking that the BGA, a respected watchdog organization (around since 1923) is chiming in against health care reform, which is NOT one of their bailiwicks.

they even claim to the the PLAINTIFF in the real BGA's suit.

meanwhile, they've already changed their name, it appears

they really will stop at nothing

Anti-Cap & Trade Lobbying Group Sends Fake Opposition Letters
http://www.delawareliberal.net/2009/07/31/anti-cap-trade-lobbying-group-sends-fake-opposition-letters/

Stealing logo & letterhead, the works. They're even writing to Congress fraudulently. Unbelievable. It's like they all have the same handbook of dirty tricks to work from.

Sorry, I know you've heard all about this watching Rachel's show; I'm just still blown away that no one's been arrested for this. Apparently it's perceived as 'safe' enough that more than one company is doing it. That's just nuts. Injunctions are great and all, but somebody ought to be sitting in jail for pulling such a stunt.

what she's talking about

since they're advertising, I wonder if she'd dare mention it

19. Exactly, and dismantle the military....both socialist programs
Last night my fiance and I were discussing how amazing it is that so many older people -- the ones screaming at town halls but others as well -- don't realize that Medicare is a government-run program. A socialist program.

President Obama and Dems should take a strong stance: If enough of the American people are against anything that smacks of socialism, after becoming educated about what this means (though CAN a certain segment BE educated?), then we should do away with any programs that smack of this nasty socialism stuff.

Make it known that they will get rid of Medicare and dismantle the military. Too much socialism for this country.

It'll save a shitload of money. That's all the American people care about, right?)

23. you never know what gets attention. meanwhile, there's a thread up now discussing
a poll on WGN TV, in which like 70% believe that the protests are genuine

pretty much tells you all you need to know about how this is going

when you spend a million and a half a DAY to spread disinfo, without much counter, it tends to work

I wonder what the numbers were back during clinton, when they torpedoed that plan.....
