My mother is a birther. Anyone else with birther relatives?

It didn't matter that all I had for a birth certificate was a photostatic copy with no seal or that my original was kept by the hospital (it was lost when the hospital closed). It didn't matter that it wasn't until I was an adult I finally got an official looking one with a seal...thanks to the Army for pressing the matter.

None of this matters to her nor does it matter the clear evidence proving Obama's birth.

I know why her, my sister and some family members feel as they do about Obama and it hurts to much to say what they are.

2. I have an aunt who absolutely loved Palin, and likely voted for McCain-Palin because of it.

She's also probably a birther (she actually said "Obama scares me".)

I don't know for sure, because I haven't talked to her since the election.

My father told me she's always been a ditz.

But there's not enough bandwidth in all the wide world to explain all that crazy. Mr. Maru was very young, she was built like a brick house and gave quite a wild ride. Eventually, the big brain came up for air.

5. The only 'birth cert' I ever had or even saw (still have it) is the one with the little footprints.

It was good enough to get me into the military and passports (for nearly 50 years now)

I screwed up and let my driver license expire - the state would not accept it as proof of my nationality but they were happy to take my (expired) passport (see above).

Stuff like this is enough to make somebody run naked down the street screaming.

11. I believe I do. But some of my conservative relatives are now Obama supporters...

So things have been evened out. I do have an aunt and uncle who have gone off the deep end, and I wouldn't doubt that they're in the birther camp. They can't live without Fox News, they used to listen to Art Bell, and they think anyone left of center-right is a communist (and that center-right people are probably borderline socialist). They seem reasonable at first, but the more you talk with them the more their wackiness is revealed.

She also believes in the euthanasia for old folks health care conspiracy. She'll believe just about anything negative about Obama, no matter how ridiculous.

I knew long before Obama's nomination and election that she's a vicious racist, though.
