Most posters have properly indicated that this was a joint effort. And it was.

Obama, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore and others orchestrated a wonderful ending for these two American women. They are now home, safe with their families.

But I, myself, am not going to undermine the contribution of Bill Clinton here. If he were not the figure that he is, if he were not the former President who is loved the world over, if he were not the genius that he is, if he were not the man that he is, this would not have happened. He has built a reputation and a following globally that has taken years to build. Yes, Obama was brilliant to make use of Clinton as a resource. But kudos to Bill for having built that reputation, the track record, and the compassion for carrying out the mission.
