The Birther Movement vs. The Electronic Voting Machines Scandals
What I truly find totally astounding is how the birther movement, which is totally baseless, was able to move from the fringe of the fringe all the way to the mainstream media. In fact, it's become a nightly topic on Loud Dobbs and Chris Matthews' shows.

However, the Diebold electronic voting machine scandals from 2000, 2002, and 2004, which did have a lot more merit to them than the birther story, was, and still is, totally ignored by the mainstream media. The Diebold story never became a mainstream media story, even though there was a lot of strong evidence to back it up.

To me, this proves that the media tilts towards the right wing.

3. Which would actualy require more work from the media?
With the birthers, the story isn't the actual merit of the claim. The story is the movement itself. The information they present can easily be emailed to the media, requiring them to do little more than report.

Black-box voting though would have actually required the media to do a little leg work. They would have to go investigate, get court orders, verify facts, etc. The media is too lazy to do this anymore.

5. A good point, and yes, it says something about the power of the RW in the media
Some of them are right wing enough to either believe any crap if it's anti-left wing, or promote it even if they know it's rubbish. The 'Swift Boat' claims are another example. And far too much of the rest of the media are willing to take such things as a valid topic for discussion, and end up giving them some credibility by that.

I've been sceptical about how much electronic voting has actually involved changing results, but it's still possible it happened, and it's worth discussing, in the general media, that the potential for fraud exists. Compared to the birth certificate circus, where there's unequivocal proof, beyond all reasonable doubt, that Obama is a natural born citizen, there's far more reason to doubt the validity of the election results you mention.
