Edited on Sun Aug-02-09 01:54 PM by lovepg
Its the only way Congress will listen to us. We could all have jobs either fund raising or lobbying.
The economy would rebound overnight we would all be in the stock market so the rich could no longer manipulate it.
We could use the money we raise to keep paying those who fund raise and lobby and to bribe congress (as they are bribed now) to pass laws we actually desire.
We could all go tax free by having offshore accounts and declare national holidays for stockholders meetings.
I say if the game is rigged and you can't win with democracy anymore its time to change to the peoples fascism.

2. A very interesting idea.
I'll play.

Should such a corporation come into being and actually grow powerful, the screams from the current corporate oligarchy would be deafening. Then they'd become dangerous.

They will accept no loss of power and no real competition. They will try to corrupt first, then pull out all the stops to destroy. There would be blood.

20. I've been beating the drum for Erin Brockovich . . . just for starters . . .
Of course, this is kinda tongue in cheek -- but also I'm kinda serious about it --

and think your idea should lead us somewhere better --!!!

6. 1st: it's 'band together'
1st: it's 'band together.' Banning together sounds like a book burning, or something Pat Boone would have recommended back in the 1960's.

2nd: Same point I made last Thursday:

I think that some visionary Americans took your suggestion... in 1789.

"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

This country ALREADY belongs to "We the people," but too many of us people have forgotten that. The corporations ARE (or should be) subservient to us. The framework is already in place. Will we restore America?

We don't need another incorporation, we need to live-out the freedoms and rights "We the people" already have already reserved for ourselves, while denying corporations even the concept of 'rights.'

I don't ask this to (merely) be a smart-aleck. Rather, if 'We the People' are not strong enough to employ the rights we ALREADY have, then how could we possibly be strong enough to carve-out new rights via a new corporation (that would then be subject to the government that grants this corporation its charter...)

The words and intent of the Constitution are quite clear. I am quite realistic about how far we as a nation fall short of that ideal at present. But to fix the reality, we don't really need more words, nor a new 'incorporation' as a people (constituting a government is synonymous with incorporating as a people). Instead, we need a plurality of Americans with an understanding of the rights we already have, and the resolve to check our government and the corporations it charters within the boundaries we have already set.

21. Unfortunately, there was a direct coup on a people's government around 1963 . . .
which was highly successful for the right wing -- and which has been followed

now with 9/11 into a new realm of imperialism and control of citizens.

Would be nice to see Obama begin to reverse the trade agreements, Patriot Act,

Homeland Security, etal and begin to prosecute some of these people for these

"illegal" wars, for one. Torture, for another!

Needless to say, if we don't properly investigate 9/11, we're headed for even

more fascism.

like crazy. Works for other corporations.
