Talk of the Nation on NPR topic:
Email protocol. Just heard this in passing about half an hour ago. Now why do I seldom listen to NPR anymore?
Good to hear there are no other pressing national problems.

1. I listen all the time ...
I enjoy the variety of programming ... todays show was light and breezy... that's OK with me, sometimes. They don't ignore the heavy and pressing issues.

To each her own, I guess.

4. Tlaked to a total stranger the other day and the conversation
drifted to radio. And as soon as I mentioned NPR he said "They have totally gone to hell since the day they fired Bob Edwards." Wow. I say that all the time.
NPR still continues to have the reputation of the news hounds that would dig up the truth. Now they rest on their laurels and do little more than the MSM when it comes to digging for the truth. They most often do "he said .. she said" journalism. And it is so disappointing.

5. I still enjoy the programming
I Love Democracy Now, though frequently light, I love Terri Gross and Dianne Rhem ... Public radio isn't what it once was ... but it remains head and shoulders above MOST of the other news sources.

It beats the hell out of the inane chatter that fills the airways in the morning and it helps get me through the day.

I still thoroughly enjoy public radio and would feel lost w/out it. I send in as much as I can during fund drives as I know that the Chimp and many of the republicans have tried to undo everything that is good about NPR

9. I agree, Terri Gross and Diane Rhem are still worth listening to, and maybe Car Talk
or Prarie Home Companion on the weekends but I tune the rest of their programming out. It really isn't much better than the other corporate media.

2. I blew them off when they discussed "Cosmetic Surgery" on Earth Day.
This is the kiss W's ass days before 9/11. And everyone thinks the media waited until then to suck up to the BFEE...:eyes:

3. Today our local talk show on NPR did Health Care proposals in the
state legislatures in our 2 state listening area.

Yeah, national NPR is all Bush all of the time, but good local programming still counts for something.

6. What little local stuff ours do is inconsistent.
Plus ours went to a 'statewide' network after Jan. 1, so local ain't exactly local no more.

7. A great deal depends upon the local organization.
Who they are, how well they develop the local NPR community, fund drives etc. Hence, the variations in local programming, from one place to another.
