Senate debating Stem Cell funding today; urge them to vote for SB 5, NOT the bogus
alternative bill from the RRR.

From the American Diabetes Association:
The U.S. Senate begins debate today on a bill that would expand the
number of stem cell lines that are eligible for federally-funded
research. Advocates across the country like yourself have
already sent thousands of letters in support of the Stem Cell Research
Enhancement Act (S.5), but we need to make sure that calls and emails
are pouring into Senate offices as the Senate debates this
issue.

Here's what you can do today to make
sure Sen. Kyl and Sen. McCain know how
important this bill is in the search for a cure for diabetes:

* Call Sen. Kyl (202) 224-4521 and Sen. McCain (202) 224-2235 and
urge them to support the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act
(S.5). Need the phone numbers? Click below for the phone numbers.
http://main.diabetes.org/site/R?i=VNKbfnkgdQrI0F86XAHkIA..

* If you have not already, click on the link below to send a fax to your Senators urging them to support the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act (S. 5). http://main.diabetes.org/site/R?i=1triaRCchyTWvoQ9SFrY-A..

* Spread the word about stem cell research, and the promises it
holds for all Americans - forward this email to five
friends today!

The American Diabetes Association supports all forms of stem cell
research within a strong ethical framework. Important advances
have already been made through embryonic stem cell research that may
soon outpace those that adult stem cell research has yielded.
The Association believes that expanding the number of stem cell lines
that are eligible for federally-funded research, which S. 5 would do,
increases the potential for a cure or improved treatments sooner,
rather than later.

President Bush has promised to veto this bill when it comes to
him. Your continued support will send a strong message to the
White House that stem cell research will provide hope for millions of
Americans.
***

Thank you for taking action.

***BAL's note: there is an alternative, bogus "feel-good" bill W WILL sign to make him and his cromies look good. DON'T LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT. SB5 is the ONLY acceptable bill for stem=-cell research advocates.

Pkease call; someone you know will benefit from this.

Thanks,
blondeatlast

2. I have two quesitons regarding these two bills:
How many embryos(sp?) have been designated into the garbage can since 8/01????
Arent dead embryos(sp?) somehow already genetically defective in as much as they have stopped reproducing cells? therefore NOT good for genetic research? (oops 3 questions)

3. Something stinks here, and it isn't the dead embryos
To have dead embryos, you must have live ones as well--right???. If they are alive, then you are killing them (per this bill) if you use "live ones" for stem cell research. The more I read about this bill, the more I think that it was written by Pat Robertson. DEMOCRATS -- STAY AWAY FROM THIS BILL!!!!

4. You are thinking of SB30--the bogus bill Bush designed for Bush's signature.
Read my post above regarding the two bills, it's all there.
