OMG! William Shatner reciting Palin's farewell speech as a poem, complete with
congas and stand-up bass in the background. It was HILARIOUS!

On Conan O'Brian just now.

Geeze, I hope someone besides me saw it -- it was AWESOME!

7. It was priceless -- I'm sure it will HAVE to show up on YouTube.
I was busy checking up on the ongoing battle in another thread with the TV on in the background -- but Conan opened with some clips from Palin's speech and then announced Shatner. It caught my full attention immediately!

(I think channel 11 repeats Conan some time in the middle of the night, so if you don't have to get up in morning, you might try checking back around 2am.)

15. Before the digital conversion, I would have been watching Letterman, too.
But thanks to advanced technology, I can no longer get any channel except the NBC affiliate. :eyes:

11. Pretty much right at the beginning, during his opening monologue.
He first showed a clip of Palin speaking, then called Shatner onstage to "do it right". Don't miss it, if you can help it. :D

34. Colbert is by far more politically effective than....
Jon Stewart, who jumps on both sides of an issue, who criticizes (sometimes ineffectively) republicans and democrats.

Colbert, by contrast, is pretty consistent in his O'Reilley-esque character and thus belittles the RW with great effect.

His faux-criticism of our side only make the opposition look more silly.

22. No, not really...
I was just wondering in general. :)

I've seen Shatner do another skit before as well where he is being asked by the an unnamed party to run as a candidate in a race for them. In it, he generally acts like your Ron Paul libertarian type. It was really funny. Just curious to his actual politics.

28. I honestly don't know. He plays right wingers very well -- I LOVED him in Boston Legal.
But I've never really wondered about his real life politics. I think I'd prefer not to know, actually. ;)

30. He has a history of doing perfect political bits
The (other) classic was on SNL as Oliver NORTH, supposedly testifying before Congress. SHATNER was standing, in full military drag, right hand in the air, then, when it came time for him to SAY something, would swallow it --repeatedly.

Is he a U.S. Citizen ---and I *don't* mean this in a Birther way, since he was born Canadian---so would he *be* a political party member/voter over here?
