A valuable contribution to the public discourse from "House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) and Republican Policy Committee Chairman Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI)," which is, essentially, a more-in-crocodile-sorrow-than-reptile-minded-anger cloud of bullshit about how Barack Obama wants to kill your Grandma.

Section 1233 of the House-drafted legislation encourages health care providers to provide their Medicare patients with counseling on ‘the use of artificially administered nutrition and hydration’ and other end of life treatments, and may place seniors in situations where they feel pressured to sign end of life directives they would not otherwise sign. This provision may start us down a treacherous path toward government-encouraged euthanasia if enacted into law....

With three states having legalized physician-assisted suicide, this provision could create a slippery slope for a more permissive environment for euthanasia, mercy-killing and physician-assisted suicide because it does not clearly exclude counseling about the supposed benefits of killing oneself.

During the Schiavo debacle, a majority of Americans supported euthanasia. I imagine most Americans still do, until the Rs really start pushing the "gassing Grandma" angle.

After all, that was the first universal taste the American people got about the hysteria of the wingnut mind. For the first time for most married Americans, they realized that these crazies would advocate state dissolution of the "sacred" bond of anyone's marriage based on demand of outside people. We also all learned during the Schiavo spectacle that these so-called "moral" people would lie with absolute impunity if it got them attention - and how easily they could force the GOP in Congress to turn our government into a fool's circus with their whining.

We all know that these people will stoop to the absolute lowest form of human interaction to get their way, from declaring there will be a revolution to claiming Grandma will be euthanized. They are like adolescents who always got away with throwing tantrums. And worse, I'll bet the Democrats will offer another amendment to placate this nonsense. . .only to get another round of crap.
