I finally have a response to right-wingers that feels right.
I've had a heated e-mail exchange with a right-winger that I have known for 25 years about Obama's health care plan. She says among other things that the plan will require that my 90-year-old mother will be euthanized. All kinds of nonsense. Finally I sent this to her:

"What you're doing by propagating misleading and potentially harmful information is a sin in the eyes of God. You will have to atone for this someday, and we will say a special prayer for you tonight that God will find some mercy on you for doing that."

How else to deal with them but turn their own weaponry right back on them?

1. I have a friend who does that to them
and it works beautifully. Unfortunately, I've been an atheist since I was ten and I just can't pull it off any more.

10. AS an agnostic bordering on atheist, I tell right wing Christians that their political greed
Is WHY I gave up on Christianity. So many "Christians" behave so completely opposite of what I was taught Christ tried to convey, I cannot believe it is a valid religion. So I dump my loss of faith back onto their own lack of charity and giving.

into your poor 90 year old grandma, cause that's what kenyan born muslims do.

4. A lot of people who feel the way she does are not religious.
Just ignore them----much easier.

5. I'd ask for documentation -
where in the proposed legislation does it say that Granny gets the gas?

It's not really possible for me to take these people seriously - nothing anyone says, including you, will ever change their minds.

Understand that it's not about health care. If George W. Bush had proposed this plan, your friend would be embracing it with all her heart.

It's Obama's, therefore, it's bad......................

12. Ask her for her help -
"experts" love to be able to help.

Ask her what section, what page, what article, and then you'll read it and get back to her.

You do realize, don't you, that she's bluffing, and not very well at that.......?

14. Yes, I realize she has no answer to that.
She has sent me 2 messages since then but I just deleted them. I think the friendship is over because of this, I rarely see her any more because she now lives 400 miles away and got married. To me you're not a friend anyway if you go around spreading lies. So I have given up on it now.

15. Well, that was sort of obvious in your OP -
there's something fundamentally mean-spirited about people who take that tack, and you're not mean-spirited, so, yeah, things change, and friends fall away.

I'm sorry, and I'm not sorry. Just so you're all right with the outcome.

You truly do not need the aggravation - and if you've gotten two messages from her since you backed her into the corner of truth and reality, I suspect she's doing some serious backpedaling, trying to make it all right.

Just so you're OK with it ........................................

16. Actually I do feel a little bad about it because I must have hurt her feelings, but
sometimes the truth hurts. Also the other day my next-door neighbor, who is a Republican, told me that she was afraid to accept any of my homegrown tomatoes because she thought Obama would tax her for it and wants to control the flow of every piece of food in the country. I don't know where they are getting this stuff but it seems that the right-wing noise machine has to make up stuff now, not that they haven't before, but it seems like in the past they would take up one grain of truth and amplify and distort it, but now they are just making up stuff out of the blue.

17. Wait -
your neighbor wouldn't accept your homegrown tomatoes because she thought Obama would tax her for it?

Any idea how that would work, or did you just let it go?

There's no good way to deal with that kind of insanity, and insanity is what it is.

Don't fret about hurting the feelings of someone who's trying to convince you of patent untruths, and when you ask for clarification, bounces it back at you, thereby giving away her ignorance.

Are these people who get their information from Rush Limbaugh?

I'm sorry these weird things are happening to you. I'd LOVE some homegrown tomatoes...................... :)

21. She should be committed.....
Any judge in NH would certify someone who would turn down homegrown tomatos as completely insane and unable to care for themselves.
Are the ConAgra and Cargill packages talking to her? Is she conversing with the lunch meat? Jeebus......

22. It all comes from these newsletters, web sites, and of course RW talk radio.
She's a little batty herself but in a cute way. It's clear now that the Republican tactic now is to scare as many people as possible, and whether what they say is true or not is completely irrelevant. The point is to instill fear. They certainly don't want any Republicans to start liking Obama or approve of his job so far.

26. I 'Spose
It has to do with demonizing the Obamas in particular, and Dems by extension. If the First Lady says homegrown veggies are best, a story is concocted to make that an evil thing. More of the Big Lie school of propaganda.

19. Euthanasia and assisted suicide, bab-y!
I just Googled "obama health care euthanasia" and my head is about to explode at the insanity returned. (Hmm, wonder if exploding heads are covered, too.)

Good reply -- I'll likely "borrow" it if I get into it with a fundie.

25. Yes and therein lies the problem.
Modern-day "Christians" would be laughed at and chastised by Christ. Their beliefs and message is nowhere near the teachings of Christ.

33. But she thinks it's true so she is not propagating a lie in her mind.
She won't have to atone for anything. Her beliefs would tell her that Jesus died for her sins. The atonement has been made.
