How do we progressives, liberals, and moderate Democrats move forward?
Assume the worst case scenario regarding Health Care Reform: killed in either the House or the Senate or both by a coalition of 'blue dog' Democrats allied on this issue with the Republican Party. This appears to be a very likely outcome.

Can DU agree with near unanimity that this is unacceptable?

How do we move forward?

liberal issues or progress in this country until the conservatives of both parties are out of power.

IF Obama was really a dedicated liberal/progressive who was one-tenth as "socialist" as the pukes make him out to be, he could use the bully pulpit of the Oval Office and go directly to the people to get our support for peace, health care, etc.

As long as there are a conservative and a bat-shit crazy fascist party running things, not a god damned thing is going to improve.

4. Let's remember how the Blue Dogs got there in the first place
They often defeated a Rethug who was not ideologically "pure" enough for the right wing of the Repuke party to support.

I lived in WA state in 2000, and that's how Senator Slade Gorton went down the tubes. He voted yes on one article of impeachment of Bill Clinton, and no on the other. Tried to straddle the middle, and he ended up losing support of many Washingtonians of both ends of the political spectrum.

3. It doesn't appear any more likely than not, to me. Either way though, the game goes on.

5. Stop being cowards.
Especially stop being cowards on the topic of demonstrations, work stoppages, physical violence and other things. I heard that a French union was threatening to burn down the factory they worked in because of grievances. Nobody in America would have that kind of courage.

It should have occurred to you by now that when sweet reason, impassioned letters to the editor and cute cartoons have failed, you have to go on to something that will make the rich and powerful realize they are not safe or protected.
