What If Imus Left Radio And T.V. & THEN Apologized?
Is there ANY way he can redeem himself, short of suicide? If he left, apologized, and proved his sincerity, could we ever forgive him?

1. If he quit then I would come closer to forgiving him because I would
believe his apology is sincere. I still want him off the air - as an example to other broadcasters that we are sick of racist, sexist, divisive, hate speech and as an example to his corporate bosses who don't really believe that anything is more important than their profits.

2. Let him get a real job like the rest of us - he's not talented anyway
Unless you call pre-pubescent-making-fun-of-people-behind-their-backs, entertainment. Hell, I can do that and quite well I might add. I would also be making fun of wrinkled old men who wear funny costumes so they can pretend to have an identity.

5. Exactly, fire the guy for not knowing his job
he already stated that he thought he was being funny. If that's what passes for entertainment on his show then he needs to find a new line of work.

3. That would make a huge difference to me.
He would be admitting he doesn't belong on the air when he cannot control himself. Yes, I could begin to believe his apology was sincere then.

6. If he apologizes too sincerely he'll lose his audience of 20 something
sports talk listeners who like the kind of bullshit he spouts. Most of the people who listen to his silly ass show don't give a rats ass about politics, Clinton, Obama, McCain or any of the non-nappy headed media hos who fall all over themselves to appear on it. They really like all the racist sexist homophobic rants that have become a trademark of the show.

BTW I noticed that columnist Tom Oliphant defended Imus on the air this morning. I wonder what Imus and his crew say about Oliphant behind his back. Tom has kind of a well, festive, way of speaking.

7. This is a much bigger issue than Imus....
This is a story that for the last 6 years has permeated our country...unfortunately for Imus he jumped on the band wagon and he got burned by his bad behaviour at a time when Americans are just sick of the lack of civility and basic respect that every American deserves.

These weren't kids that were hanging out in the streets or on welfare. To me that is where my outrage is....these are kids who made it to the Big Dance the final two and he can't comment on if it was a good game he can only comment on their ethnicity and other attributes...in a negative way

So only he can redeem himself through his actions and not just words....This administration has blown that for anyone that follows in their footsteps....Put up or Shut up...

Just Sayin...

What did he say that was racist?

16. Why not? He makes the claim that he's a good guy, he's the guy who
supports nappy-headed kids with cancer, he's the guy who is all over fairness...like he wrote the book.

He has a radio show and he appoints himself guardian of the college basketball scene too?

You know for someone who claims in another thread that he doesn't care about Imus and the whole hullabaloo, you sure have been getting around on these threads alot.

As for the what did he say that was racist...read civil rights history. I think you are in need of an education.

17. i think perhaps you're being sarcastic.....

and the fact that you can't (or won't) see how his comments have hurt an entire ethnic group, & women to boot, probably says more about you, than Imus or his detractors. And I say this as someone who could give a shit whether he stays or goes, but I don't get why you don't get that people have a right to be upset about this.

9. How about if just leaves. Take his money and walk away. That
is the price you pay for being an arrogant loudmouth pig.

Why should a loudmouth millionaire be able to spout racist sexist nonsense about a group of college women on national media - and keep his job? Does that not by definition, provide clear evidence that he is unfit to be a a spokesman to millions of people on the national media stage?

15. well, IF he apologized after he quit, and then
had to play full court press along with Rush, Michael Wiener, Glen Beck and Sean Hannity as teammates in full 1950's style basketball uniforms (short shorts) so their skinny white hairless legs were showing, with *moron cheerleading them on ...against the #2 womens team, then yeah, i'd consider it payback.

not sure he'd redeem himself, but at least it would more entertaining than his show has proven to be.

but i think he'd consider suicide first.

18. I forgive easily
If I think someone is sincere.

If I thought Imus had a true epiphany, a defining moment, became a better person, of course I would forgive him. That's kind of the point for people like me. I'm not a pound-of-flesher. I prefer someone's consciousness be raised.

Have those things happened or has he just apologized because he's in trouble? He has a history of Jerk Mouth.
