As I read this story, it just rang false to me and I wondered if any of your folks have heard about this situation -- and Elizabeth's supposed public remarks:

2. I saw the AP slug, but I just can't grasp why....
...she'd stuff like about someone she knows is toting a gun and isn't friendly to her family, nor can I imagine her calling some a rabid, rabid Republican, even if they are.

4. I don't know the answer to that...
I just took your lines "I guess this is a real newspaper" and "supposed remarks" to imply that maybe the story itself was wrong. The story has been picked up and played in many major papers today, so if it's wrong, I'll guess we'll hear about soon enough.

5. I wouldn't assume it's accurate simply because it's AP. Have you heard their radio news lately? nt

3. As someone who has been COMPLETELY and stupidly misquoted
by media on two separate occasions, I can say that those MAY NOT be her exact words, even though they are in quotation marks. Journalists put quotes around words they string together in a close approximation of what they heard, and sometimes the tone or actual meaning gets garbled.
