We Should Have A Fair and Honest Discussion About The GOP's Healthcare Plan
Edited on Thu Jul-23-09 03:14 PM by TomCADem
It is called the status quo.

I personally would like to think of it as a "Lexus" Healthcare plan where you pay for a Lexus, but end up driving a Camry like everyone else in the world.

However, to be fair, the GOP's healthcare plan will ensure the U.S.'s continued dominance in several healthcare metrics.

First, the U.S. will remain number one in percentage of GDP that goes to healthcare costs:

<>

Second, the U.S. will remain as number one in per capita healthcare spending:

<>

So, I think to be fair, we should have an honest side by side comparison between the GOP's healthcare plan and that of President Obama.

Well, that takes care of the positives.

3. The GOP doesn't HAVE a "healthcare plan"
They simply want to prevent any and all progress toward CREATING a healthcare plan. Their owners don't want one.

4. Yes, They Do. Its Called The Current Healthcare Plan - The Status Quo
Edited on Thu Jul-23-09 05:01 PM by TomCADem
Not choosing to reform healthcare is a choice. If we do nothing, then this is the healthcare plan we are stuck with. Indeed, the debate really should be focusing, not on a comparison between President Obama's plan and those of other coutries, but between President Obama's proposals, and the current plan. Now, how much does the GOP healthcare plan cost you? About $7,000 annually:

<>

Afterall, if the status quo is better, then we should keep it. However, it is hard to defend the current over-priced healthcare plan, yet McConnell manages to do it.
