2. Dr. Dean up.
Where we are and what we can do as healthcare providers.
THank you for making phone calls.
Group of college students yesterday and wanted to know whose fault it is if this doesn't go well. Truth is that it is our fault.
Can't change without us.
Do same thing we did to elect Obama to fix healthcare.
Congress cares more about votes than they do money. Let them know they need to get with the program.
Fight between health insurance company and the people.
No reform without public option.
Otherwise same system.
Single payer or private healthcare.
Real change at the grass roots.
Things go different in Washington than media states.
AMA endorses house bill with public option.
Press doesn't like it.

3. This is an emergency.
Questions.
1. Nurses have been leading towards highest outcomes. How do nurses ensure reform encompasses quality care?

Have to get rid of uncompensated care problem. Use money for adequate supply and adequate staffing.
Bill has to get out of committee first before these needs are addressed.

2. PCP in LA thousands of uninsured and underinsured. How will professional lives change when reform passes.

I think it will get better. Private healthcare has ruined healthcare. Mass did not put in public option.
Now part of cost control fee for service medicine. Ultimately lead to cost control and one that makes more sense.

3. I want my patients to have improved access to mental health care. Nurse from OK.
Mental healthcare in public option.

4. Won't the cost be worse if we don't do anything.

Yes. Congress won't write benefit package. Abortion is a legal service--it will not be excluded. We are losing jobs now.
We cannot compete as a country saddled with employer insurance. There is no great future in this country without reform.

We have to get involved to make this change.
We want a change we can believe in.
