The media will make or break the President's speech tonight.
The talking heads' interpretation will determine whether or not President Obama's health plan continues as a viable option or whether they will join with the Republicans to attempt to put the final nail in the coffin? The reason the approval numbers have dropped in the last few weeks is not because the Republicans have such a strong argument against it, it is the media's constant attacks against it. They have put a lot of opposing voices on air with little questioning from the media. The Democrats have to decide whether or not they want to play it safe and try to keep their seats or vote for health care reform and gamble that they may lose their seats. Which way will they vote? It is up to the Democrats, really.

1. Do you really have to ask which way they'll vote?
Really?

4. They may find there is no "correct" vote...
They may lose if they vote against health care reform? It is not an automatic that the Democrats will vote for these folks that vote with the Repubs and the media.

14. This is so true...
If we want Health Care Reform we are going to have to step on their throats to get it - they don't give a shit about ordinary Americans.

5. Obama introduced a plan? Does it have a strong public option everybody can buy into and

strong cost controls?

Where can I read a copy?

I've seen what the House passed and it's weak as hell. It's just a big giveaway to the insurance companies. So I wasn't too excited about that.

But I hadn't heard that Obama has a plan. Is it better than the joke in the house?

9. No he hasn't introduced a plan. He has principles including
a public option and cost controls. He said on CBS last night that he would veto a bad bill.

12. So what's his reaction to what the house passed out of committee? Has he said he will veto it as
written?

i mean a public option by 2013 and 10 million enrolled by 2020 is a joke, right?

6. I think the president, as usual, will be confident and lay it on the line why we
have to do health care and do it right. I think he will hit it out of the park.

11. Chuck Todd's diligently preparing the most asinine question he can muster
as we type.

I wish Pres. Obama, just once, would ask CT to wipe that Dirty Sanchez off his face before appearing on camera. }(

15. They'll try, for sure
Maybe I'm too optimistic, but it seems to me that when the President speaks directly to the people (even if through the press), he usually transcends their idiocy.

17. I expect the media will have at least three hours of "commentary"
to provide "balance" to the President's statement. This will be followed by another hour tomorrow morning, and "special reports" supporting conservative positions during the newscasts tomorrow evening. Republicans and blue dog Democrats will get about three times the airtime of any other viewpoint, and the media will focus on those opposing any health care reform.

19. I am not a Republican and his approval rating has certainly dropped with me.
While he is still better than the alternative, I can not imagine what the next Republican that becomes President will do. Obama is not only keeping most of the most obnoxious Bush* policies but is enhancing them. The next Republican should really have a field day with zero concerns about any accountability.
