I'm extremely upset. The media and Dems are LYING about health care reform
This poll shows a significant majority of Americans want a health care overhaul done this year.

http://politicalwire.com/archives/2009/07/14/most_americans_want_health_care_reform_passed.html

That tracks with what people were thinking in April/May of this year per this CBSNews poll:

http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/05/13/politics/politicalhotsheet/entry5011399.shtml

And it is something we are all inherently aware of. But what is the message from the CORPORATE MEDIA WHORES!!??!

"Oh..ahh....Obama better go slowly on this....cuz..ahh...people are starting to get skittish."

OH REALLY, you stupid motherfucking assholes in Congress????REALLY???

I am so fighting mad I could spit nails. In what kind of fucking Newspeak Ministry of Truth bullshit vortex are we living in? SHould I believe my own eyes or what those corporatist shills want us to know the insurance company thinks?

OK. I am going to post my little Bullshit thread tomorrow about calling Max Baucus and Harry Reid. A lot of good it will do. THe other threads just sank like stones because people EVEN on this board seem to be only drawn to sensationalism. SO don't think you're so special, folks. Not all....but MANY of you here would much rather talk Michael Jackson or why Obama sucks or why he is McDreamy than do hard work for what we supposedly all agree on.

However, after tomorrow passes and I call these senators and possibly a few others do, I will regroup for a September march on Washington and any other actions we can think of to get past the propaganda wall thrown up by CNN/ABC/FoxNews/DemocratLites/Republicans about the TRUE wishes of the American people.

1. I too am shocked by the media coverage.
ABC deliberately looked for "small businesses" who were "concerned" that health care reform could cost them money. There was nothing to balance that story at all. The network essentially just parroted GOP talking points, making sure they included the GOP Congressman who said if there is no health care reform, it will be because the Democrats couldn't agree on it. Nice media set up.

All I have heard on the media are the right-wing talking points, no matter how trivial, how ridiculous, how based in fiction. They are repeated over and over and over again. What is wrong with the Democratic party and why are they unable to get any message out in the media?

2. to me, it's like we're realizing how "taken over" our country is by corporations
Just as corporations hire publicists, lawyers, marketers, and strategic business planners, they also apparently hire media outlets and congressmen to do their bidding.

It is sick.

5. except businesses are involved in conspiracies all the time.
why wouldn't they conspire and collude to take over the reins of power so that the interests of these corporate persons are served? It's a super duper way for the ruling class/royalty class to get back to the good old days of exploiting the masses and NOT call it monarchy or oligarchy.

7. Businesses do not need to conspire.
Their singular self-interests will compel them to act in a similar manner.

8. but the amplified will of many actors conspiring together as we see nowadays
is more effective than just a single corp acting in its own self interests.

The coordinated play from media and GOP and insurance companies/lobbyists is staggering and obviously coordinated.

9. Obviously coordinated?
And you know this how? You have proof of this conspiracy? There is no need of the major players to conspire. The media needs access for content, and it needs advertisers to thrive. The GOP AND the Democrats need those advertisers to fund their campaigns.

6. Why are you shocked?
This is the way it always is. The "media" does not give a shit about you or me or our families or communities. They are in the business to sell to advertising to business. That is how they make their money. Business does not want a public option or single-payer or even a strictly regulated insurance system. What business wants is what the media will report.

10. It's the seniors, people. The seniors are recipients of the existing Medicare benefit.
And the existing Medicare benefit is being threatened with being watered down to expand coverage to other demographics.

Consequently, seniors have turned against healthcare reform and Congress is feeling their wrath.

The lady at that townhall meeting who told Obama about her hundred-year-old mother fighting to get a pacemaker was the turning point. Opponents of reform have taken that anecdote and used it to beat up any and all plans which have been floated.

You can blame corporations, but it's grandma whom you're fighting on this.

12. It is not the seniors.
The seniors are just as threatened by health costs as we are. They have limited income and are expected to pay a percentage of their medical bills even on medicare. They're just as stressed as the rest of us.

11. they have a reason for why they are saying what they say.....
because if they say it enough, they think it will be true. it has been what has been going on for some time now. they expect us to believe them in spite of what we know, because it tends to work with a lot of people. I hope it doesn't work, but i never overestimate my fellow citizens in their utter stupidity.... after all, they watch faux.
