Louisiana passes first anti-evolution "academic freedom" law
I may have missed this but this is the Governor that is in the running for the GOP in 2012?

Scary stuff!!

As we noted last month, a number of states have been considering laws that, under the guise of "academic freedom," single out evolution for special criticism. Most of them haven't made it out of the state legislatures, and one that did was promptly vetoed. But the last of these bills under consideration, the Louisiana Science Education Act (LSEA), was enacted by the signature of Governor Bobby Jindal yesterday. The bill would allow local school boards to approve supplemental classroom materials specifically for the critique of scientific theories, allowing poorly-informed board members to stick their communities with Dover-sized legal fees.

1. Jesus Christ. And I mean that ironically and in rage.
Fucking southerners and their Bible worshiping bullshit.

There is very little that they do in their religion that their Protestant ancestor, Calvin, would appreciate or even approve.

"USE YOUR FUCKING BRAINS!!!!!!!!!!" he's screaming from heaven. "SERIOUSLY! HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!" And then he elbows Jesus in rage and says, "Do something!" and Jesus just shakes his head and says, "I'm sorry, but I'm not allowed, no matter how much they bastardize and misuse and blaspheme my name."

4. Jindal is Horse Shit
I'm from Louisiana, and I am so happy that I completed my primary education A LONG TIME AGO (when we had a sane, yet corrupt, Democrat as a governor). If it isn't enough that this asshat has cut almost $300 million out of the state's higher education budget (you know, the state that consistently ranks at the bottom in primary and secondary education), he pulls this shit.

I cannot WAIT to finish law school so that I can move away.

6. Well since I figured out
this country is nutfuck crazy, I tend to not let it bother me so much. Lousiana, however, has a special nut sauce and acutely I recommend it, as in being drunk the entire time you cross the state line until you leave. It is an enchnanting place. The spanish moss ALONE. The gators too. My favorite was the shrimp and oil festival. I once had the shirt.

7. Ah..the Republican Party...proudly leading America into the Third World century.
Within 50 years if the GOP has it's way, we'll be a nation ravaged by ignorance, poverty, and the majority will be happy to get a few cents a week to work on a Republican plantation.

9. do they hate evolution because it shows it's not wise to marry your sister?
because genetics and evolution go hand-in-hand. (not in the marry your sister hand-in-hand way, tho.)

or are they so brainwashed by the christian equivalent of the Taliban that they cannot accept reality?

evolution was also used in the abolitionist movement fight. funny how anti-evolution is tied to racism and even slavery, and has its strongest appeal in former slave states.

Darwin said that evolution showed that all humans were equal.

Into the 1960s, and who know, maybe even now, white southern baptists argued that segregation was justified because blacks were from the tribe of Dan and god had cursed them.... I know this from first-hand experience as a kid. So, if the bible says its so, or if stupid racist fucks want to believe the bible says its so... that's supposed to make every injustice okay.

we see this same thinking in Sharlet's revelations about the Family at this time. It's okay to be a fascist, one told Sharlet, if you're a fascist for god.
