1. Clean Energy and a Clean Solar System
and a committment to not travel into outer space at all until we can do it without harming anything.

3. I'm good with clearing up the space junk orbiting Earth
There's a huge amount of it, and it poses a constant threat to satellites, the International Space Station, etc.

Sweeping Earth's orbit with a big ol' electromagnet to grab a lot of the metal debris would be a big help.

2. How About We Get It Right Down Here First

I say we do the next major space event after we bring the troops home....once we provide heath care for everyone....we have a surplus in the treasury....we have a sound and innovative energy policy in place....

So much more here to worry about.

4. We'll have bigger fish to fry by then...
...and there's a great chance there won't much, if any, commemoration in 2069. Climate change, plague, Peak Oil, drought, famine, water wars will all take care of that.

5. Oh, please...
Death, horror, blood and gore, blah, blah, blah. I concede that there is a possibility that Earth in 2069 could look like a cross between Mad Max and The Day After Tomorrow, but our species didn't claw its way through fear, ignorance, and superstition to throw it all away at this point.
