Crews Find Dead Body While on the Search for a Missing Hiker
PALM SPRINGS - Autopsies were being performed Monday on two men who died while hiking in the Palm Springs area over the weekend.

One man was found dead about 9:15 a.m. Sunday on a hillside west of North Museum Drive and North Belardo Road, according to the coroner's office.

The other was found dead about 11 a.m. Sunday on a hillside about 1,000 feet west of West Arenas Road and South Tahquitz Drive, the coroner's office reported.

The names of both men are being withheld at this point, according to the coroner's office >>>

2. Too damn hot to be wandering around in the desert right now.
People need to be really careful, they underestimate the desert under the best of conditions, but in heat like this, little mistakes can be fatal.

3. the original hiker was having cramps,
told the others to go on , left him alone. Error...

They should have gotten him water, and gotten him out of there right away, that guy was dehydrated.

6. Anybody who hikes out in the desert of SoCal in this heat, this time of year,
is just asking for a Darwin award. It's getting over 110F out that way.

9. Didn't Kipling have a saying about "mad dogs and Englishmen" and the noonday sun?
I cannot imagine doing voluntary exposure to that kind of heat. Every so often we hear about workers who get heat problems, but mostly people who have to work outdoors know better. It's the hikers and recreational outdoors people who are stupid about weather conditions.

10. I love hiking in the desert...in the SPRING
If you absolutely cannot put off the hiking urge, grab the tram to the top of San Jacinto. It's only in the low 80's up there.

actually there were three,the one they showed had a black shirt and no hat, also a Darwin candidate. It made 115 yesterday

8. I was in Palm Springs yesterday. A little warm out there. And now
it looks like I go back tomorrow. I like warm weather.
