Palin: Idiot? Genius? Or Something Else?
This guy actually might have her pegged. Lots of quotable phrase here too.

Is she Jackson-level weird? Not yet. But Michael Jackson was famous for forty years. She hasn't even been famous eleven months. And she's plenty weird already. Which is kind of an achievement in itself. I'm hard-pressed to think of anyone in the public eye who's shot this high, this fast, starting out a little odd and then, in mid-ascent, before all eyes, blossomed like a display of Fourth of July fireworks into a bursting full tilt, hi-def, fruit loop weird-plosion.

1. Hypomanic
She's got boundless ambition, enthusiasm and confidence but can never focus well enough to see anything through.

That gal just aint right in the head.

9. Honestly
I dont think she is any of of those words.

Instead of comparing her to MJ, I compare to a band that comes out of nowhere and everyone loves that first single and they become the star of the moment and love it. They bask in it and enjoy it. Then when the glow of the bright lights get bigger and bigger the layers get peeled back and then the "crazy" begins. It is not really crazy, but just not able to handle the quick rise up and certainly cannot handle when people start not just kissing butt without asking question.

I honestly dont think most of us could handle the type of flash in the pain fame someone like her received. Think about the rise of our President. It was fast but in comparison to Palin, his was the turtle to her Hare. He had time to plateau adjust and then get bigger, then adjust and grow and so on. He was able to shape for the most part his message. He was considered a rising star but not the savior of a party.

As soon as Palin was announced so many on the right thought they had their horse and they basically did not prepare her for what was about to happen and now we are seeing the effects she cannot handle BOTH sides of being a national player and the right is still not helping because they wont pull her back and reshape her.

12. It's already well-documented that many in her party have tried to give her advice, both
during the campaign - like debate prep -- and after when they saw her skidding out of control as Governor, too.

She refused to listen to anyone. It's one thing to not know certain things and be open to learning and instruction. It's another to be so blind to your ignorance, to think no one has anything to teach you.

She is the latter variety. Full of hubris and not much else.

14. I'm looking at the woman's whole life
She went to six colleges to get an easy four year degree. She ran for mayor and couldn't do the job, needing to hire a city manager to do what her predecessors in the job had done. This is a small town mayor's job, hardly a demanding job. She was elected governor and ran everything that crossed her desk through her husband, who I suspect has been covering for her for many years. Her friends all say how enthusiastic and energetic she is but admit her follow through is extremely poor.

Bowing out of the governor's office with 18 months left in the term and with no overwhelming scandal hanging over her fits very well with the profile.

The sad thing is that I think she is bright and might be a force to be reckoned with if she ever got appropriate treatment.

The sadder thing is that hypomanic people rarely get treatment and those that do abandon it quickly because they miss the mild high.

6. Something else. Definitely something else.
In fact, what my old man used to call "a piece of work."

It wasn't a compliment.

helpfully,

7. Michael Jackson got off the bus.
And Sarah Palin grabbed his seat, probably knocking a few old ladies like Ann Coulter and Newt Gingrich out of the way.

8. Sociopath
Symptoms here. And she's going to hit the ground HARD when the cameras stop rolling because she exists only as long as the media does.

I don't know where the years have gone
Memories can only last so long
Like faded photographs, forgotten songs
And the things I never knew
When the skin is thin, the heart shows through
Please believe me what I tell you is true

Where's the lights, turn 'em on again
One more night to believe and then
Another note for my requiem
A memory to carry on
The story's over when the crowds have gone

All my friends have been crucified
Made life a long suicide true
Guess we never figured out the rules
But I'm still alive, my fingers feel
Gonna play on till the final reel's through
And read the credits from a different view

Where's the lights, turn 'em on again
One more night to believe and then
Another note for my requiem
A memory to carry on
The story's over when the crowds have gone
When the crowds are gone

When the crowds are gone
And I'm all alone
Playing the saddest song
Now that the lights are gone
Turn them on again
One more time for me my friend
Turn 'em on again

I never wanted to know
Never wanted to see
I wasted my time
Till time wasted me
Never wanted to go
Always wanted to stay
'Cause the persons I am
Are the parts that I play
So I plot and I plan
Hope and I scheme
To the lure of a night
Filled with unfinished dreams
I'm holding on tight
To a world gone astray
As they charge me for years
I can no longer pay

Turn 'em on again (repeat)

I never wanted to know
Never wanted to see
I wasted my time
Till time wasted me
I Never wanted to go
Always wanted to stay
'Cause the persons I am
Are the parts that I play
The parts I play

And the light
Turn then off my friend
And the ghosts
Well just let them in
Cause in the dark
It's easier to see

10. Remember the Nicole Kidman movie?
...The one where she's the weather person? Was it called "To Die For?"
Everytime I see Palin (former tv personage wannabe) I think of that movie..
Endless, cunning ambition and, oh by the way, a psychopath.

13. She is the heroine of backlash politics.
She champions the rednecks, Bible-thumpers, flag-wavers, fetus-lovers, gun-fondlers, intellectual-haters, etc. -- and damn if she doesn't appear to be one, herself. She has an unsurpassed ability to motivate poor-as-shit, embittered white people to vote against their better interests and for a party that will fuck them brutally and without remorse. Trouble is, she's too much a genuine dumb backlash voter, herself, so she'll never be president.

17. Something else -- a sort of "Idiot-arod Savant"
There's not much there, but at least she's found a little use for her pageant skills.
