Sanford needs to STFU!
He has done so much harm as Governor that it will take years to repair.

Sanford's most important issue was to dismantle the public school system. He has done a good job ruining it, but he hasn't been able to get his pet project charter schools off the ground.

There really needs to be reform of the government. The legislature has too much power. However, after Sanford's shenanigans, people shudder to think what more power in the executive branch would do. It will take years before any real reform can be tried.

The only reason he isn't out on his ear is because their is a complete moran as Lt.governor. Nobody wants to give Andre Bauer a headstart on the position because he is crazier than a shithouse mouse.

Sanford needs to be sequestered out at Fort Sumter with a guard. If he's needed for anything, somebody will toodle out to get him. That way he won't have access to communicate with the world, and he can write his memoir:
"My Life As the Harlequin Governor."

MEH!

1. As a former SC public school teacher, it's been disgusting
watching Sanford in action. Granted, I taught there three decades ago, but part of my heart has always been in SC. I still have friends teaching there.

There needs to be a clean sweep of the executive branch and elect someone who truly cares about the people, imo.

targeted education to destroy.

3. Why? He's A Gift That Keeps Giving...
Too bad the people of South Carolina either can't or won't start calling to impeach this loser. Who cares about his private life...I sure don't. He's been AWOL for several months and the longer this soap opera goes on the worse it will be for those folks...a state government in suspended animation...being dictated by a lovesick horndog.

From a political perspective, the GOOPers who try to hang in there are gifts...be it Ensign or Vitter or Sanford...as long as the focus is on their libidos, they lose both the "gravitas" and "moral authority" that not only the rushpublicans seem to think they once owned and make them look like superhypocrites (which we know they are).

Nah, I want Sanford to do a weekly show...sing "don't cry for me Argentina" and keep us updated on how things are going with his wife. At least it keeps him from gaining any credibility as a serious politician.

4. What is interesting about this case... is since the story broke, Sanford himself
works to put it back in the news about once a week. Like a kid who just needs attention. Good attention, bad attention - just needs attention. I find it ironic that today's theme of his effort to get back into the news is... humility.

5. Hey Salin...
Good to see you.

Yep...even more ironic is isn't humility also "empathy"? The Hypocrisy meter here blew off the end of the scale a long time ago.

Also...this sure isn't looking like a "strong and resolute" leader...ya know Raygun II.

:hi:

8. Bet Huck is fuming
can't get the coverage that crazy Mark and crazier Sarah are getting these days.

Remember when the public would follow along and buy the snake oil being sold? These folks just haven't caught on, that the public is tired of elixer and has awoken from a fugue. Let them wander around for a bit longer looking for the next Raygun II. And we'll still be here, chuckling at the inevitable implosion.

Great to see you Kharma Train! :hi:

9. I Was Thinking A Similar Thought...
A couple days ago they had Bay Buchanan spinning and someone asked her about who will be the candidate in 2012...first she kissed Mittens behind and then mentioned Palin and Jindal...never once mentioned Hucklenutz. He's turning into the Rodney of the GOOP, but I do think he will emerge as the rest of this irrelevant party continues to fall off the reality abyss.

Doesn't seem that long ago we were observing how the spin machine was working...when many, even here on DU...were distracted by it. The fear of Rove being the almighty. Yep, times have changed and the schadenfraude has been rewarding.

Cheers...and don't be a stranger.

6. He has Ron White Disease.
He has the right to remain silent. He just doesn't have the ABILITY to do that.

7. If the people of SC had the (fill in the blank) to get rid of him, they would have
status quo, the breakfast of Rethug champions.
