Let's say we're back in late May, a few years ago, and your wife is taken to the hospital (as she was), in distress with an impending (very) early premature delivery.

Now what would you say; how would you feel, if the doctors had said:

"Mr & Mrs S, this delivery is going to cost too much money, and the baby would probably be impaired, and need hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of medical care, so we're not going to do more than deliver it, and then we'll see how it does. You're both young, and you can try again".
