It will always "be" The Sears Tower..
Tomorrow the official name gets changed, but let me tell you.. to people who live in or near Chi Town, it will always be Sears Tower..

If some corporation bought the Empire State building, and wanted to change the name, I'd bet , to locals and on maps it would forever be the Empire State building..

2. It reminds me of "The Avenue Of the Americas" in NYC.
It's been officially named that for years and years, but as far as I know every New Yorker calls it "Sixth Avenue".

7. As in DC, the numbered street system creates order. NOT a good idea to screw with it.
In DC there are numbered streets that go North-South.

Then there are the 'three alphabets': the first, downtown alphabet is just letters - F St., C St., etc. 'I' St. is also spelled Eye St.

The second alphabet is two-syllable words in alphabetical order, the third is three-syllable words in alphabetical order.

5. Damn Straight!!!
I watched that thing being built...see it almost every place I when I drive into the city...it has and always will be Sears Tower...even though Sears moved out nearly 20 years ago.

Now if they wanted to change the name of Trump Tower...I wouldn't have a problem...

Cheers...

12. Reagan NAP, as it's known...We need to have the DEM Congress pry that name off.

And, as much as I adore Thurgood Marshall, Thurgood Marshall Baltimore Washington Airport is a mouthfull.

Let's call it...'Friendship' airport! If it's good enough for Pussy Galore...it's good enough for us!

I do want to name LAX after Eleanor Roosevelt as she's a Dem and flew to LA twice the first year in the White House. The three letter code would be ERA.

11. The locals here won't call it anything else.
The only people who will use the new name will be tourists who had never heard of the place before. Then again, I still don't call that department store "macy's", either.
