That's it. I've had it.
I can usually ignore Inhofe and his crazy ideas because I'm completely outnumbered in this state. I used to call and write and email but it's all in vain. But the clown just sponsored a bill to ban human-animal hybrids. Is he high? Did he have a stoke? WHAT??

I'm calling his office tomorrow. This is just about the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. What a complete idiot! Just when I think he can't possibly get any worse...

:banghead:

Soon he will ban dogs and cats living together.

4. If I'm not mistaken
I think "human-animal hybrids" would include things like pigs with human genes added so that their organs can be transplanted into humans. Why would he want to ban that?

13. Because they want to ban stem cell research and this is a way to get to that. Not to mention, this
is another step towards banning abortions.

18. This is correct.
Especially with pig skin. Pig skin is remarkably similar to human skin and would prove very beneficial to burn patients (think soldiers injured by IEDs). Of course, the problem is that pig skin is not immuno-compatible with humans. But, imagine, if we could bio-engineer a pig that expressed human compatibility markers in its skin. We could use pig skin as grafts, or even as temporary grafts to prevent inflammation and scarring while a patients own cells (stem cells) are grown to form a permanent graft. This would not be a perfect solution, since every person is unique in themselves, but would go a long way towards finding a better solution than what we have now.

Current treatment for severe burns now consists of either "stretching" skin from neighboring tissue, grafting skin - usually from the legs, or from using an exogenous graft source, which is very expensive and can result in rejection. Of course, the obvious problem with all of the solutions is that they all result in extensive scar formation and often lead to stiffness and lack of motion.

Of course, there are other organs that are grown in pigs that can be used in human transplants. Skin transplants happen to be about what I am most knowledgeable.

7. GOP senator wastes Congress' time. Let his opposition run with that
when he is up for re-election. Of course, given his constituency, they'd probably love this legislation.

8. I feel it necessary to point out to him
that just to get a lung transplant to work, the recipient's immune system has to be basically wiped out and then it only works some of the time and it's and organ FROM A HUMAN BEING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like I'm calling Coburn and just simply asking if the "C" in c-house or whatever it's called is for crack.
