We could just kill ourselves.

Sorry. I'm a little depressed today.

1. Oh, Dear
I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling this way.

We're here to listen, if you'd like to share.

5. Just so many friends trying to find work.
And no work out there to find.

One friend has about $660 in SS income and she is trying to figure out how to live on that.

It is getting really depressing. But I'm OK.

This is a serious situation. There are millions of us out here and we are all in the same boat.

2. I am afraid you won't receive much attention from the religious right.
They just care for fetuses.

12. The early rapture.
A special deal for senior citizens.

Trouble is the wrong people would probably make a lot of money off it.

4. Well, I'm a senior and I'm mad today.
Lots to be pissed about...

All I can say is "try art." I have noticed that art always saves me, whether it is music, sculpture, literature or painting...it's where I go when I get this way...

7. I started a petsitting business. Working with animals really
helps.

They always are so glad to see me. And they don't care one wit that I am over the hill.

9. And you know what makes it so much worse? There is so much money
just floating around everywhere - money for banks and business and who knows what else.

But no money for those of use that are between middle age and 65 when we can at least get on Medicare.

14. You could take all the ex-Howard Johnson's restaurants...
paint their roofs purple, and hire sexy hostesses
to see people on their way.

Soon, it'll probably be quite a big business!

21. 'Way too much nominal "science fiction" is coming true these days.

But where are the space stations and moon stations? Let
alone starships? Transporters? Replicators?

No-o-o-o. Instead, we get The Stand and Welcome to
the Monkey House
with Swan Song looking more and
more likely with every passing day.

15. That sounds like a very "brave and courageous" thing to do.
Ha ha, just kidding because of the assisted suicide thread also floating around here.

I'm in Missouri also, KC Area. Please don't open up a suicide clinic around here. We need all the Dem votes we can get in MO.

Maybe on the Kansas side though...

They don't know it but they need us. Are there some sort of social services for seniors where you are? Try looking in the government section of the telephone book. There's lots of nets out there to help catch your friend and the rest of us.

Right now is the time for Obama to deploy some safety nets for those who need them. I hope he does.

20. I am glad my 88 year old Grandma is very well off.
She has many friends however in the same boat.
My Grandma got lucky and held onto property in her family that her brothers and sisters sold to her and inherited an awful lot. But she is very generous with it as well. She even gave me a car. She takes some of her friends in when they need it.

It depresses me too how seniors are treated in this country. They are a treasure full of wisdom and knowledge.

some of those old farts have union pensions - if you can find one around with a pulse you'll at least have medical coverage. Hey, my aunt in law did it.

OK, so I only half kid..............
