Republicans resist Justice interrogation probe

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Two leading Republican senators say a criminal investigation into the Bush administration's harsh intelligence practices would make the CIA a boogeyman.

Sen. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire says Democrats' efforts to review President George W. Bush's practices would harm the United States in the long run. He says the country is fighting a "war of intelligence" that would be damaged if the tactics were disclosed.

Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee says that if Attorney General Eric Holder decides to appoint a prosecutor to probe Bush-era decisions, he should go farther back. Alexander says the investigation should go back into the 1990s, when Holder was a senior Justice Department official under President Bill Clinton.

The pair appeared on CNN's "State of the Union."

1. It probably wouldn't make the CIA a "boogeyman"
Most likely it would make the bushies the "boogeymen" (with apologies to John Lee Hooker, the boogeyman) because after all, cheney allegedly ordered the CIA to lie.

2. Criminals never welcome scrutiny
But I guess this is news to CNN, which continues to provide a platform for the demented ravings of the professional political criminal class. Maybe because they throw such swell parties with other people's money?

4. You know I'm all for this
After we're done with the Bush II years let's go back to Reagan when the Republican Coup of Crazy started.

5. Go back to the 1990s when Holder was a sr. JD official?
A little subtle blackmail there?

If you're going to do that, maybe the Dems should go back to George H.W. Bush's administration and check out a few things? Play ball, boys. May the best side win.
