What do Dems think about the Ukraine crisis
http://www.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,,2051278,00.html

Where is Bush on matters democratic? The Ukraine president cannot dissolve parliament. Why this global silence. Bushco's Orange Revolution has crashed - does that explain the silence? Is it in the interest of the Democratic party to remain silent on this when Bush would love to introduce martial law and dissolve parliament in the US?

<snip>
Ukraine's leadership crisis deepened yesterday as President Viktor Yushchenko threatened government officials with prosecution if they did not hold early elections. But the prime minister, Viktor Yanukovich, repeated his call for the president to reverse Monday's decision to dissolve parliament, and called for international mediation in the conflict.

The decision to disband the parliament has plunged Ukraine into its deepest political crisis since the Orange Revolution of 2004 and brought thousands of Mr Yanukovich's supporters on to the streets of Kiev. The prime minister, who heads a ruling coalition of MPs, announced that he had invited the Austrian chancellor, Alfred Gusenbauer, to mediate, and he might also approach Russia and Poland.

1. Give the Russian-speaking half of the country to Russia and be done with it
No more Putin ass-kissers like Yanukovich trying to turn the ethnic Ukrainians back into Russian vassals.

3. The US and Europe has. That matters how?
The Ethnic Ukrainians were pissed off at being Russian vassals. The US is really not on good terms with Russia right now. Don't you think it is in our interests to support the ethnic Ukrainians?

4. US interest has always been just that
US interest. The only interest the US has re the Ukraine is Russian oil.
Bushco couldn't care less how many ethnic Ukranians die if they can achieve their goal.

History is my only guide.

5. So
Now we are gonna invade the Ukraine?

Y'know... bring democracy right thru their front doors?

Let's face it, democracy is not something bushco knows, or cares about.

6. Oil? Don't you mean natural gas?
And anyway, this has more to do with geo-strategic interests (getting Ukraine in NATO) then with Russian gas, IMO.
