6. Travelers are not Roma people and it is a racial slur to call anyone Gypsy.

The Irish Travelers are a group of ethnic Irish people who came to this country and are famous for running cons often revolving around construction, painting or similar odd work. There is also a group of Scottish Travelers too. Sometime both of these groups are referred to as "Irish Gypsies". It was theorized at one time that the Travelers were related to the Roma people from the Ships of the Spanish Armada that sought refuge on Irish shores back in 1588 (this is where the "Black Irish" come from) HOWEVER there has been recent DNA tests that prove the Irish Travelers are indeed simply Irish and not true Roma.

The Roma People are originally from areas of India (where the word Roma means artist or musician) by way of the Caucasus, Romania and through southern Europe all the way to Spain. They are what most people mean when they talk about "Gypsies" .




And yes, whatever Palin's ethnicity i DO think she is running a long con.
